    Puzzle games have always found themselves at home on the Nintendo DS. When we got this game in for review we suspected that it’d be a typically generic and tedious attempt at making a bit of cash from a budget title. How wrong we were. What we found was an entertaining, challenging and long-lasting piece of gaming.

    Mahjong Quest Expeditions

    For those of you that don’t have a clue about what Mahjong is, allow us to explain. Basically it is a sort of solitaire puzzle game where you match up symbols on a big board. It might not sound that good, but we assure you, this is a seriously addictive format. This budget attempt, based on a downloadable PC title, takes the format, gives it a nice little package and presents it to you as a budget DS title.

    When Square Enix announced that the Kingdom Hearts team was turning its attention from the PlayStation 2 to the humble Nintendo DS platform, clearly people were extremely excited about the prospect of such a title. But just what would the brains of the team and outside group Jupiter come up with following the success of KH: Chain of Memories on the GBA? Something truly unique for the system that takes full advantage of both the dual- and touch-screen functions, that’s what! Does the new approach to RPG gameplay quite work, though, or is this more of a failed experiment?
