Been a while since my last blog, & even longer since my last review. I did a Phantom Hourglass review for my English coursework (only the first draft) so I decided to spiff it up & turn it into what my other reviews would look like.
Then earlier today in College I had a substitute, so we didn't really do anything but finish our coursework drafts... mine however, was one of those that was finished, so I decided to work on another review, of Super Paper Mario. I typed up the main bulk, then came home & spiffed it up. Here they are in their reviewiesh glory:
Phantom Hourglass

Super Paper Mario

As always, please give me constructive crisicism, it's one of the only reason I post these here on C3, I want to improve because I aim to be a reviewer for a career, or a side career.
& by constructive criticism, I don't mean "that score is all wrong", I mean the bulk of the review, the structure, maybe even the screenshots.
Screenshots are courtesy of the lovely C3 ![]()

Well orchestrated reviews there.
Coming from an avid magazine reader, this might sound harsh (apologies in advance), but is there really a need for so much text? Don't get me wrong, the writing is fine (hell, its better than mine and I'm trying to become a Novelist.:-o), and all querys a reader might have are answered in-text, but how is somebody going to keep an interest in reading to the end, without good incentive? I'd advise subject headings (eg. looks, history, that kind of thing).
To be honest, theres not a lot else I can moan about (and thats saying something
) Good work Superlink!

Yeah, I was worried about too much text too... I need to work on a better more magazine like template, with more screens, & columned text.
Too texty & not enough images. I either need to make it a page long with more images if I want a big review, or I need to cut down on the text, which I might find a bit hard.
Phantom Hourglass one has a good amount of words though, because I need ~1500 for my English coursework, & Word counter said it was about 1350 ![]()

Question, whats with the marrage of peach and bowser, whats with that...

Not read the reviews, but if you really want to be a reviewer you should really lose the &'s in that Super Paper Mario review. Like I said the last time you posted your reviews...

Yeah... I really have to get out of the habits of using "&" instead of "and"...
It comes as naturally as typing capitals at the start of a sentence, worst thing is I use it in my school work too. :-(

(56K Warning I guess)
Bit late for that no?....shows up once you open the blog.
I wish i could have written reviews for my coursework (doesn't matter now i'm not doing a level english....i'm making sure i keep as far away from essays as possible)
I still think paying 30 for about 20 hours of gaming (is zelda about that) is pretty good value...even though people complain about it being short...i mean movies charge around 10 for 2 hours or less.

Yeah, but movies are cheaper than games, & I guess you can watch them a lot.
PH is good value for money, it's just a shame that great games are so short lived.

I like the layout but my crappy eyes forbid me from reading them. Sowwy :(

Well, you're not doing it in the PH review as far as I can see. So, it's possible.![]()

In the PH review I had a few of both :roller: I tried to put more "ands" in because it's for my English coursework, still, I need to use "and" everywhere so I can get used to it.
Sorry it's small to read, I'm not sure how to change that. I could just paste the text, but part of it is the placement of the screenshots. Photobucket shrink files if they're too big, so I guess I could get an account on imageshack, & then gives links to my reviews from there. Then I guess you could zoom & stuff.

It LOOKS great as far as the layout and stuff - good job there! But reading the smaller text is painful. Pasting the review text would be good. :![]()

Well, I've recently been having a few Media and Graphics lectures about page layout, so I will probably be "revolutionizing" my template sometime soon.
I'll also get a ImageShack account, and link to the full page (not paste the image itself) so it's easier to read, but to make it easier for 56k users, I'll be pasting the main body of the reviews in my blogs too.
