Killer7 has no space in it. It's not Killer SPACE 7 or Killer GAP 7. It's simply Killer7.
In a similar way, Killer7 seeks to take what you expect from games these days and throws it in the hole.
Graphics use a cel-shaded style that blends colors before your eyes. Black as well as bold colors are used here, almost film-noire, comic-book style.
Music ranges from techno, dramatic, fast-paced and intense. Among tracks there is gymnopedie 1 by Erik Satie and Greensleeves.
Gameplay involves three parts: moving puzzles and shooting.
The first thing you have to get down is the controls. Pressing A will move your guy while holding a direction will allow him to merge into another path. You can also do a quick 180 a la RE and look backwards
Puzzles in this game vary a bit. Some involve doing things in the correct order. Another could be finding a password for a lock. Yet another is using a person's special move to solve it.
Combat involves going into aim-mode by holding R. From there, aiming is handled with the left stick and A fires. Super shots are handled with the Y button.
The Killer7 group is made of different personas:
Mask-carries double grenade launchers for carnage
KAEDE-the shy sniper
Con-fast, blind and carries automatics
Dan-Mr. badass revolver
Coyote-sly and can break locks as well as jump
Kevin-silent assassin with knives
Harman-large and in charge of the K7 AWP
Garcian-the messenger of the group with a slick pistol
Each has a different ability from Kevin going invisible to Con's speedy shoes.
Enemies are just as diverse as this group. Some will fly, others roll around, some even punish you for bad aiming! Bosses are very unique too. Some are a matter of watching the fight, while others require fast reflexes.
The missions take you anywhere from New York to Japan and back.
The story is about political conflict between the US and Japan and a situation that demands immediate action. The other story that follows beside all this is one that involves Emir Parkreiner...
Overall, K7 is about a political as well as a dramatic and emotional story combined with puzzle solving and portions of shooting.
It gets a 10 because I like it. It gets a 1 if I don't like it. It doesn't get anything if I don't care about it.
