Random Thoughts 3:16 - Because SirLink Said So!

Now Playing: Dark Chronicle while I wait for Persona 4
Now Listening to: The dead silence of Night
Now Watching: AllHailTheHypnoToadAllHailTheHypnoToadAllHailTheHypnoToadAllHailTheHypnoToad

At the bequest of a certain C3 member that will remain nameless until you read the title, I'm doing another one of these bloggy things. Same drill as the previous two, a mishmash of whatever comes to mind adapted for a more pleasant and funnier reading experience. Because trust me, the unfiltered stuff would scar you for life. Smilie
Right, am gonna be quick on this before that wrestler catches up with me for mutilating his catchphrase.

- Wasn't much of a Summer was it? Granted, I didn't want it to be warm enough to cook an egg on your chest or anything (specially because I'd have had to sleep through it Smilie), but there was barely enough heat to melt an icecube most days. Proper tan next year then. Smilie

- Do people honestly think that hoodies and caps are fashionable? When you see 40-something blokes wearing them you just know society is in trouble. The ones walking like clothed Chimpanzees are worth a good laugh at though. Smilie

-Bleach is really heating up lately on the manga side of things, lots of awesome fights ahead. Can't wait to see old man Zangetsu again! Smilie

- Bit of feedback request; what do you guys think of my two monthly features? The last one wasn't as gut-wrenching as I wanted but there's only so much laughter you can place on a boxart and uneventful screens. Smilie The next TakeN one is good though, trust me. Smilie

- Gone skintflint lately, as last month was a bit of a drain on the old wallet! £300 laptop, £100 tattoo and £150 PS3, ouch! All worth it though. Smilie

- Got this through the post this morning;

and no, I'm not off to challenge the Ordon Village fatboy Mayor with it, it's a self-help book to aid with low motivation. I'm skeptical to be quite honest, but its worth a punt.

- Personal shoutout here to Azuardo for all his awesome work for the site in recent months. I'd say this applies.

- So, show of hands, who's interested in the next iPhone that should be shown off this month? The rumours are tantalising to say the least; I'll probably end up with one. Smilie

- Need some more PSN buddies! Add Darkspine_S if you haven't already!

Now Playing: Eternal Sonata

Alrighty will have to begin the boring way, with a disclaimer; this will be the very last time I yak about this subject manner in a personal way as I'm sure I've bored enough people by harping on about it the last couple of years.
Might mention it if someone brings it up though, I'm so effin happy right now. Smilie

Quick recap. I was a twat when I was younger. Lots of things I can blame; school, the shitheads I had to attend with, my moron brother, gaming as a distraction. But mostly it was me, I grew lazy and decided not to do the most basic of things for a few years, and brush my teeth. I didn't take what the dentist or my parents said seriously, and let them rot away until I realised my mistake when I left school and tried to save them, but they were left in this state (I'd really advise against looking if you're squeamish, even I get a little nauseous right now looking back at it Smilie);

Yeah, really bad. I couldn't smile properly for a long, long time, and with good reason. That's the kind of imagery that kids run away from, that cracks mirrors. Some are alright with that state, I sure as heck wasn't.

So about a year ago, I got a night job that paid well, and I managed to start saving. A year later, £2500 out of pocket, and a tooth extraction, Whitening appointment and a Bridge implant later...

I can't tell you guys how good it is to be able to open my mouth and not feel shame, it's like I have someone else's gob and it isn't wrong! Just being able to smile isn't something I can put into words, it's fantastBirllianAwesomStupendous-ish. Smilie

Definitely will take some getting used to, my mind kinda rejected it at first, but I'm adjusting. Prepare for a lot more photos on facebook, I'm not so camera shy anymore. Smilie

Say Hello to my Inky Little Friend...

Now Playing: Link's Awakening

Made you double-check, didn't I? Smilie
Nah, that's just a crappy photoshop, but such a design would net me 9000 points on the nerdy-awesomeness scale, wouldn't you say? Smilie

Behold! The real deal, the genuine article, the mastapiece, the work of artistic brilliance, the...I'll shut up now.

There's a lot of symbology and meaning in this one (I designed it so I should know Smilie), so I'll let you guys speculate a little. I'll tell you what the Kanji means if there isn't someone of the tongue to translate however, and I'll give this one away for free; only one of my shoulders is covered, just like a certain Spiky-haired protagonist. Random Thoughts Blog: The Sequel Unleashed.

Now Playing: Some crappy DS game.

Ha, been a while. Lots happening lately, things moving at a pace that Sonic would be proud of. Right, we know how it goes. I write random stuff and try to make it interesting and thought provoking, and you either use it as a sleep inducer or a complimentary morning piece to your Coco Pops (mmm...coco pops...). Sokie Dokie, go!

- Finally, moved out and am back in the city! Granted, I'm now in a housing estate, chucked into a flat with my incredibly enthusiastic and exciting energetic other brother (lol sarcasm), and we're living on top of a hill that makes my legs scream bloody murder after one bike ride, but I'm loving it (do de do de do). Feels great to be independent again. Smilie Except for the bills, naturally.

- On an equally as bright a note, August the 3rd, people. The day that after over 15 years I will be able to smile again. My teeth have already been whitened, and the groundwork set for the bridge that will be fitted in that day. Money has been paid (all £2400 of it, ouch Smilie), and every penny will be worth it. I'm planning a unique celebration to commemorate the event, and I plan to share it with you guys first. Because I wuv oo all, and plan to gross a few people out. Smilie

- So, Sonic's 20th anniversary wasn't long ago, and on the day I made use of my now-shorter hair to celebrate by spiking it up. Odd how it suited me actually, might make it permanent. Smilie
Played the Xbox demo of Generations yesterday, awesome fun (are people seriously complaining about it?), but why is it timed and only playable online? Are Sega taking Nintendo's example to new ridiculous heights or something?

- Those Mega Behemoths in Final Fantasy XIII are really starting to piss me off now. Cheap shot bastards.

- Bleach Manga is getting damn good now. Fullbring Ninja Ichigo is badass, and Toumiblahblah's Facebook Fullbring is trolling gold. Betcha the unnamed Soul Reaper is Rukia. Smilie

- Anyone here consume vast amounts of energy drinks? Yeah? Guess which unfortunate sap has learned that he can't tolerate them without stomach pains and (ironically) a loss of energy.

- A general message to the world: Stop calling me when I'm asleep during the day. Smilie

- Need a new laptop, but don't want to use too much more money considering my recent spending, and have been refused a credit card. Bugger.

- Had a Batman themed day yesterday. Woke up, finished off season 2 of the Batman 90s Animated series, played a few hours of Arkham asylum, then watched the original 80s movie and Batman Forever. The Animated Show was awesome, this moment in particular had me rolling on the floor. Smilie

-Planning a couple of things for C3, hope you guys will enjoy. Smilie

Buh bye! Smilie

Me Type Random Junk Good!

Now Playing: Sakura Wars and Sin & Punishment Wii

Righty-o, this is a new type of blogging I'm a-gonna try out, since I'm burned out on the whole monthly-summary thing that was happening (particularly due to April being an entirely non-eventful month minus the chocolate). So instead, this handsome bloke who is full of Sunday Roast and Rice Pudding right now will jot down whatever comes to mind with the aim of giving you fine folks something to either laugh or think about.
Beats all that 'me,me,me' bollocks before, surely. Smilie
Will keep dishing out the gifs though. Smilie

- It's the 22nd! We'll all still here! Unless Heaven is just like our regular lives, in which case that is a pissing cop-out God. Smilie

- People love to whine don't they? It took a inhaler dosage and a more cheery outlook to make me notice how easy it is to both do and prevent. Smilie

- Dreams are really bizarre aren't they? Mine seem to have a scary habit of affecting the real world (better get that checked out with the Oracle). Example, last week for some strange reason I was dreaming that I was taking big gaping bites out of some lengthy substance (my mind wants to tell me it was strands of Strawberry-flavoured string candy, but I have my own theories Smilie), and I woke up to realize that I was biting into my quilt with incredible ferocity. Smilie Took days to get the fluff outa the back of my throat.
I dread to think what my last one means; I'd won the lottery, but was miserable about it.
Weird.

- Why do we eat hot dogs in the summer, but not ice cream in the winter? I do anyway because I'm batshit insane, but why don't normals?

- Week off! Fun times! MCM! Smilie Travel to get there! Smilie

- Nintendo delayed the e-shop update! Grrr! There better be something good in the pipeline you bloody gits. .

- Might be moving back in the city next month, awesome! Smilie

- Long hair is a bitch to grow. For some us us unlucky bastards, a mere trickle of water blooms an afro; like space food only stringier.

- Looking in the mirror, and actually liking what you see is very refreshing, I could grow to like it.

- Those Protein snack bars are a rip off and taste like rubber slippers that have trodden on a strawberry. Go right through you too.

- Temperature goes up, percentage of girl clothing goes down. Summer has its good points. Smilie

- Funny how quickly you get forgotten at previous workplaces isn't it? It's like 'hey, he's gone to work somewhere else, but let's just pretend he has phased out of existance and not even bother saying hello on facebook every now and then; those few seconds spent typing are very precious to me damnit!'
Bitter, me? Never.

- Bottom is the greatest TV comedy ever. My proof?

- Back on subject of dreams just quickly, the Nintendo VS Capcom one I had a couple years ago seems to be picking up steam. And this one I posted about many moons ago looks set to happen. Smilie

- Have really got to knuckle down and study Japanese, I blame these night shifts for messing with my focus. Smilie

Toodles!

New Games = Non-Existent Older Games?

Disclaimer: The following will come across as a broad generalization of behavior, not that I intend it as such, but it is an interesting topic to persue, especially in recent times of the 3DS's release and subsequent Wii 2 rumours.

The original DS and the Wii both hit the markets between late 2004 and late 2006, and as everyone is aware, they became runaway successes with sales and market penetration, putting Nintendo back on the top for the first time since the SNES era. Naturally, with popular machines, comes lots of developer support, albeit a slow start for both console and handheld with ports and poor efforts, owing to their unexpected sales explosions. Arguably, the DS fared better with the more unique titles to come out of the woodwork, whilst the Wii possessed very few truly unique games that wouldn't work on any other machine, despite the quality of its bigger names.

I have to admit, over the 6 years of both the Wii and DS, I'm perplexed over how some gamers have acted towards their software libraries. No, don't worry, I'm not going to get into that whole Casual/Hardcore/Shovelware rubbish, that's a petty argument that has been done to death everywhere.
Nah, my question is, how can gamers so easily forget about the games that have been released when a sparse release schedule is shown? Both machines have had their fair share of software droughts, and I agree that they can be frustrating, but what is stopping you from looking for games that are already on shelves, games that are (shock horror) cheaper, and more likely to be inventive/different if they have passed your notice before? Again, I know I'm generalizing, aiming this at no-one in particular, but the general consensus I've seen on countless forums (and to a much lesser extent, this one) is that only new games seem to matter, which is foolhardy when there is a whole back catalogue to discover for absolutely any 4/5+ year machine you can name.
Saying that, I won't ignore the possible reasons behind this. Okay, so Wii has had poor quality 3rd Party Support; practically all the good stuff from them is ending up on the HD twins, and it bites, I agree. But why ignore the good stuff just because its of lesser name and exposure?

Lately the Wii schedule has been drying up, with only a few big games left, like Skyward Sword and Xenoblade. Of course some people won't be happy about that, but why waste time complaining when you have games like Opoona, Minon Everyday Hero, A Boy and His Blob, Zack and Wiki, the No More Heroes games, Samba De Amigo, Deadly Creatures, de Blob, The House of the Dead Overkill, MySims Agents, Red Steel 2, it's an extensive list. Virtual Console and WiiWare aren't brilliant on value and choice, but what is on there is worth a go, like LostWinds, World of Goo, Sin and Punishment, Zelda Majoras Mask, the Mega Drive Sonic games, the Donkey Kong Country titles, again a vast list. We haven't even gone into Gamecube territory yet; one of the most underrated machines in recent memory, and your little rectangular console can play its entire library. Think about that.
No doubts here that the 3DS is rather quiet at the moment with releases and momentum. A guess would suggest E3 will be where the big games are shown off for it, but in the meantime, what about the incredible library that the original DS had? Games that are in fact still seeing release now, like Okamiden and Pokemon Black/White?

Again, I'm not aiming this at anyone in particular, but it just strikes me as peculiar how incensed some people can be for future releases and completely dismiss previous ones, especially in light of a barren schedule. Why complain about it when you could be enjoying lesser known games instead? Just takes a little research and faith. Smilie

March into London and the rest of the Month. :)

Now Playing: GS Dark Dawn
Now Listening to: Daia No Hana
Bonjour, Guten Tag, Konnichiwa, Ello, and all that, it's the third of my monthly blogs for the year, how exciting! Just hold my hand, take a deep breath, and we'll get through this. Or not hold my hand if you want, if cleanliness isn't your thing. Smilie

Okay then, so March; number 3 month of the year, beginning of Spring (second-best season of the year), and a nice tidy reminder that the year is once again GOING TOO BLOODY QUICK. It was an eventful month for yours truly, starting off with a trip to London! Naturally, a good number of you live in the capital, so this'll seem like a snooze for you guys, but I've only been a handful of times, and this one was the first on my own, so its a little different from the norm. The trip was planned, albeit with a purpose in mind that no longer applied, so I thought of the visit as more of a spontaneous thing, see where my legs take me, you know?
Well, I'll tell you where they took me, to getting lost. It started well, though the train was packed I had a good book to draw my imagination away from clobbering the noisy brats next to me. Got off at Liverpool Street with absolutely no idea where to go, so I took the tube down to the area I was originally going to visit; Oxford Circus. Was disappointed that there weren't any trapeze artists or elephants about (jk), but the bloody humongous Apple Store somewhat made up for it.
Anyways, after swiping a bit of their wi-fi to check my emails, and buying absolutely nothing in return, I headed off towards a place I saw on the maps dotted around, and one I'd heard of previously; Regents Park. Made it there okay, sat around for a bit as it was a nice clear day minus the roadworks nearby, and after looking at another map, wen in search of the British Museum. This is the lost area of my trip; must've spent the good part of an hour trying to get my bearings. Smilie
I eventually ended up at Kings Cross, and the awesome British Library that on any other day I'd have loved to explore more thoroughly, alas I had to keep my return ticket set for a few hours later in my mind. What a place though, holy moely.
I got back on the tube after that and went to somewhere me and my good brother had previously visited; Convent Gardens. Had a drink in the Starbucks there whilst finishing off my book, then after that I headed back to Liverpool Street to wait for the Train.
All in all, not exactly an eventful trip, but t'was fun, and with more time and planning for the next visit, and a comic convention to possibly go to, it'll be more eventful for then. Smilie

Most of the rest of the month was non-eventful, except for a couple of things. You lot can probably guess one of them, on the 25th. I had previously debated whether or not to pick one up, but as release day drew near, I couldn't resist.
And what a beauty the 3DS truly is. It looked bulkier from screenshots, that's for certain. I was amazed by the 3D; to be honest I was expecting more of a pop-out effect like at the cinema, but the pop-in is equally as good. The friend code system is certainly an improvement, and I like the inbuilt applications and games, but I'd be fibbing if I said I wasn't curious to see what that big May update has in store for us. Good purchase, but the really compelling stuff has yet to materialize, despite how great Super Street Fighter 4 is. Smilie

The second big event, was my tooth removal.
Earlier in the month, I had gotten fed up with waiting for my current useless dentist clinic to call me back and arrange the consultation appointment I badly needed (as of writing, they still haven't called), so I looked around for a private clinic that would do it sooner. I found a great one called Treetops Dental Practice, who got me in posthaste, arranged everything, and gave me some set dates. True, it might all cost a bit more in the long run, but the results so far have been worth it.
Had the tooth out two weeks ago, and aside from all the blood I lost (and the subsequent periods of illness since then), it's all been dandy. I do have pics of before and after, but trust me, you don't want to see them. Right now I'd say they're in the worst shape (from a physical perspective) now than they've ever been, but the ball is in motion, and my Implant commences next month. Cannot wait. Smilie

Woah, rambled a bit there. I'll make up for it with the Staff blog I'll start on in a minute, which is entirely devoted to games and not to me, promise. Smilie

February - Four Weeks of Mind-Changing Numbness. :D

Now Playing: Kingdom Hearts Re:Coded
Now Listening to: Wing My Way, Kotoko (youtube it, its a fucking amazing song)
Now Watching: Kickass Sky HD channels, some Zombie drama series I can't remember the name of. :P

January came and went faster than a chav in a job centre, and February dawned. 'T'would be a good month, definitely.' the bloke thought to himself, while helping that annoying old man he had to work with for the umpteenth time, 'Everything's planned out, savings are on the rise, and only a few weeks until my holiday. Sweet!'.
Alas, it was not to be. A movement in the stars, or destiny, or that thing Christians believe in, or whatever decides what happens on a day to day basis, makes a considerable u-turn in his plans.
'What if you go abroad and get it done?'
'Buh?' says he, whilst forcing Coco Pops down his hatch.
'Go aboard to get your teeth fixed, it'll be cheaper.' repeats non-evil Brother, 'You should look into it'.
So Mr lanky does, and he is astonished at what he finds. 'A 1/4 of the price!? Holy Jesus Christ on a Pogo Stick, you fuckin NHS ripoff bastards!' Plans are changed, foreign dental clinic websites are visited, and two fingers are raised to English Dentists everywhere.
More research equals the first step in the almighty journey for a new smile to blind cars with, and a destination is determined; London. First meet with a representative clinic there, and arrange what he needed. So Train Tickets are ordered, somewhat begrudgingly considering the ripoff prices, and work holiday is set. All that was left, was to wait, and make do with some difficult weeks at work owing to certain people taking holidays, and one week that consisted entirely of day-time work instead.
Buuuuuuuuuut...wait! Another twist! Mr Sexy-Hunk-In-The-Making had one last appointment with his regular dentist to attend near the end of the month. He intended this to be primarily for comparison purposes, in case the Budapest boys tried to rip him off with unneeded treatments in London. And whatdaya know, turns out they probably would have.
He was shocked to discover, that actually, he only needed one tooth implant, as opposed to the two he thought he required before. This was huge, as it cut the original required cost down immeasurably, and whilst he had probably double what the overseas option would require, he could still afford just the one here in the mighty UK. And it would be far easier to get it all happening, with an easy distance to travel should anything go wrong! So plans changed once again, consultation arranged, lets get this ball rolling!

That was the primary thought on the bloke's mind, but other notable things had happened on this 4-week wonder. After being informed in no uncertain terms of how little a few of his so-called buddies back at Argos gave a damn of the minimalistic opportunities he had to hit the clubs, he accepted the invite of someone that actually gave a damn, and had a good time out, bumping into ex-colleagues that had the good sense to bail on Argos a while back. At one point he had to roll his tongue back in when two hot Chinese chicks went to sit with him and gave him a peck on the cheek, but at that point he could barely be understood anyway, with all the WKDs becoming accustomed to his liver.
The gym was going well too. Very much used to his 2-month old regime, the giant among men decided to shake things up a bit, and got in a Personal Trainer session to change the Stamina/Endurance boosting, to all-out Muscle-Building. Oooh, did it hurt. Never had a treadmill seen such a panting Behemoth crawling over it after a mile dash. And it wasn't over yet, next were the weights! Here's where he felt the right signs; muscle pressure, progress, and a good laydown whilst lifting dumbells that threatened to flatten his face with one good slip. Coupled with stretching exercises that wouldn't look out of place from a ballerina, and you have a new session to contend with. 'Totally worth it.' he thought aloud whilst seeing the emerging muscular figure in the changing room mirror after every session. 'Fuck steroids, this is where it's at, bitches!' he said to no-one in particular, except maybe the beefy bastard in the corner stuffing salad that always hogged the good machines.

So these events, and many more minor ones aside that involved shitloads of travel, anime watching, web surfing, and games playing, the month was up, he was officially on holiday (fuck yes!), and his trip to London that he couldn't get his travel money back on, was looming just into the new month.

What new adventures will our hero face?

Will he finally use some of that money he's got stashed away like Scrooge McDuck?

Will he ever give his Evil-Brother the ass-kicking the ugly tosser so richly deserves?

Tune in next time, on 'Tales...of...Reading Material!'

January - Beginning of a (hopefully) Memorable Year.

Now Playing: At staying awake
Now Listening to: Agony, Kotoko
Ho hum. So here we are at last. I've been meaning to write another one of these for the past two weeks, but be it one thing after another (one thing referring to either work, sleep, or gym), I haven't gotten around to it.
Anyways, the title probably gives a good hint, but just to clarify, I'm going to try doing a little retrospective per month, for each of the twelve making up 2011. This is going to be a big year for me, for reasons I'll delve into shortly, so I want to document them if possible.
Naturally, this'll consist of being just about me, since these blogs are an excellent way of venting my thoughts out, as I haven't any other outlet at the moment. So if you're here thinking I'll address current worldly issues within or outside of the Videogame spectrum, you're probably going to be disappointed. But, if you're still willing to scroll through, and help me get some things off my chest, I'll try to make the resulting huge wall of text at least somewhat entertaining to read, whether it's with snarky comments, animated pictures, or that kind of hoo hah. Deal?

So, start of the year, the moment the clock chimed 12, and the moment the New Years Resolutions began to take priority. I posted mine up in a previous thread which I'm too lazy to hunt down right now, but many of them were ones that I'd been preparing to achieve for a good long while already, and January was when things got kicked into gear considerably in some aspects, if not all.

Major Goal Number One: Restoration of my teeth, and quite possibly the most important target of my life right now. Most would say that self-image belief is only reliant on personal confidence, and that boosting the later will aid the former; I agree to an extent, in that it differs from person to person. Most wouldn't give a crap if the insides of their mouth resembles a graveyard, they'd laugh it off and grin regardless. Me, I'm not that lucky. For myself, it's less to do with belief, as the anti-depressants I was on last year dealt with, but the knowledge that the condition of my chompers is entirely of my own doing, albeit indirectly.
I admit it, I was an absolute retard as a kid. I was greedy, inconsiderate, bossy, lazy, and to my eternal shame, hooked (with zero relent) onto videogames. No doubt that caused my anti-social nature, and made me a very small fish in a giant High School pond. It was then I began to neglect my teeth, not brushing them properly, or taking good care of them for months at a time. As a result, they turned yellow, and weren't strong enough to support braces at the time, so they ended up crooked too. I'd like to place the blame of this neglect on some of the arseholes I went to that school with, so-called 'friends' that would sell you to slavery for a quid if given the chance, but that would be dishonest and an unfair split; I'm as much to blame. Oh, and my shithead oldest brother too; thanks to his special needs he's been hogging attention since the moment I was born, and looking back from an outside perspective most of my actions would have been from trying to get noticed, and shutting myself away when i can't stand him anymore, whether I was aware I was doing any of this at the time or not. Still, most of the fault is mine, can't deny that.
That's why I've been saving for dental operations for the past year, as I feel a shining straight set is only justifiable if it comes from my own pocket (plus the NHS won't cough up unless I'm unemployed, and I resolved NEVER to go back on Jobseekers Smilie ). Well, I've been close for a while, even though the fee was quite hefty (clue, take a popular DragonBall meme, and halve the number), but then my respectable, slightly older brother got me looking into treatment abroad, which is significantly less. Which, considering the savings, I'd be insane not to do, as I can afford everything I need right at this moment, instead of waiting until summer. So, an appointment is booked with their London Branch early next month, and we'll see how it goes from there. Smilie
I'll be doing a special set of blogs documenting what happens for anyone looking into doing the same (pictures too, so heaven help me :/), and to help bring closure to an aspect that has held me back for so many years. Smilie

Major Goal Number Two: To rid myself of my unfit lanky exterior. This one got off to a bad start, as all the food from Christmas slowed me down a bit, plus the holiday time I was (forcibly) having from work stopped me from actually getting to the gym in the first place, as I can't get there unless I travel to work (a real catch-22 situation). So it was a fairly uneventful month in that regard; though I did get a swollen wrist out of it which was an absolute BITCH. I'm actually about 1-2 stone heavier than before I joined, though that can be attributed to muscle weight, thank god. Smilie

With all that travel time (2-3 hours a day roughly), I've been watching a fair bit of anime on mah iTouch; have branched out a bit a found a fair few good ones. Started off with a series called Black Cat; great music, fairly good character and plot, and buckets of style; a short series so I'm saving the last 10 or so episodes for when I buy the boxset. Next up was D-Gray Man, which didn't really float my boat all that much; interesting premise, but the voicework was kinda weak, and the main guy just seemed a bit one-note. Case Closed however, I am really enjoying, it reminds me of Phoenix Wright in some bizzare way, and I love how varied the cases are despite regular use of the same cast. Pity they didn't dub all of the episodes, but oh well.

The rest of the month just flew by really, much like they seem to have been doing for a few years now. I spent most of January just getting to and from work, gym-ming it up, researching in my time off, and generally not doing too much that would involve money. Smilie Oh, I did gear up for a night out at the end of the month for a few weeks beforehand, was really looking forward to it and all. Then, naturally, someone bailed out, and for some reason I couldn't even begin to contemplate, the whole group wasn't going because of it. I'll understand that person's circumstances, but when you're looking forward to meeting people you consider as friends on your first night out in over 6 months, one person out of a whole group stopping everyone else, is just utter bullshit. I have gone out since, with someone that actually invited me without my nudging, so I'm over it.

Of course, this is naturally a Gaming Website, and I can see one of my reviews headlining the site up there as I type, so I really should chat more about them. But to be honest, another one of my resolutions plays relevance, as I'm trying to play less, and delve into other interests. Investing so much time into travel, work, and working out, helps a lot, though I try to keep some hours free to help with reviews for C3, I'm staff for a reason. Smilie

Anyway, I'll end things here, with a synopsis planned for February on my week off at the beginning of March (can't wait! Smilie), and I'm also planning a special blog with the 3DS playtest not long after that piece, so please look forward to it (and I promise that one will be far less about me, and much more about the machine in question). Hmm, lots of activity from this dozy fool in the coming months it seems then.Smilie

Yay for boring Sundays. :/

Now Listening to: Dissidia Soundtrack
Wow, it has certainly been a while since the last one of these buggers, eh? ol' lazybones here has been knackering himself out with traveling times, gym workouts, and the dreaded activity of all us boring adults, the worklife, so there has been very little solid opportunity to make another blog, together with the required thought-gathering time involved. Yet, with the eventful Saturday occasion looming on the horizon, when better to spread a little festive cheer, and give you all something entertaining to read on a boring sleepy Sunday? Well, I heard Dickens isn't available, so you'll have to make do with little old me. Smilie

So, who else loves this time of year? Nah, not for the snow, which has already outstayed its welcome, and which needs to quickly vanish and not cost me any more work days. Nope, its for the spirit of the holiday season, a feeling that the endless 'Christmas Carol' remakes and re-imaginings over the years finally drummed into me a few years back. Presents are great and all, but at the end of the day they're just material goods you can buy at any point of the year. It's the feeling of being together with those you care about most, sharing a laugh, pulling crackers and watching that small screwdriver set you wanted fall out of one and into the gravy bowl. Like finding a good movie to watch on the small screen when soaps aren't hogging the time slots, or busting out a board game (Monopoly! Damn, haven't played that in years. :/). Christmas is more about these things now, for me personally at least. Younger minds may disagree, and rightfully so, though I can assure you when you're on the purchasing side of things that will change. Smilie
So yes, my posting here over the next week will unfortunately be quite erratic (when has it ever not been? Smilie ), so if I don't say it between now and the big day, I'll say it here; Merry Christmas Cubed3 and all of its great members, and a big F U to the spammers.

Why erratic, you may wonder? Well Dawlish, Mr Lanky Bastard here has a job in the city. A night position 4 to 5 days a week, with 8-10 hours of heavy manual labour, and about 2 and a half hours of travel to get to and back. Oh, and an hour at the gym after each shift, just for good measure. Yes, I'm batshit insane, and the men in white coats haven't found me yet, so don't go giving me away just yet. Nah, as crazy as this schedule no doubt sounds, it works, and leaves me with enough time to sleep, minus any real social or web-social interaction between the days, but hey, the paypacket makes up for it, and it's an okay job too. Would write more about it, but my bosses would probably tip me off to the white coat men, so best not. Smilie
Ah yes, the Gym, wanted to emphasize more on that. Guys, a good workout at an adequately-equipped gym, coupled with a program to follow that actually works, there is no better feeling on Planet Earth. My neckline has increased, my arms and legs have grown much stronger in both ability and appearance, I've got much more energy when I'm not tired from regular work, and I think my chubby cheeks are finally starting to slim down. Admittedly, the slight stomach fat hasn't budged yet, but considering I've had that all my life, its not surprising; just more time needed. Seriously though, if you're feeling down or unmotivated, get to a gym, its like the ultimate anti-depressant (and considering the 8+ months I was on them, I should know Smilie)

Of course, gaming website needs some gaming content, so here's a section for that. Those non-nerds directed here from Facebook, feel free to skip it, else be drawn into my witty retorts and informative conjecture regarding blips and blops on a TV screen (as the uninformed would see it anyway).
One name: Final Fantasy VII. A name many of you have seen me use so much, that you might have had an overwhelming urge to give your computer screen a brand new giant speaker by now. Yet, ah can't deny, people, it's my favourite. And after initially planning to skip my yearly play-through of it this year in favour of activities that wouldn't force me to sit in front of a TV for hours on end, I've got it on the PSP. Loving it, as always. Still discovering new things about it, as always (did you know enemies strike one another on purpose to knock off the effect of Manipulate? I didn't until now. Smilie). Every year I try something new with the playthroughs; this time its achieving all Limit Breaks with all characters. Yup, even Aerith. And I gotta say, using Great Gospel to rip that git Demon Gate a new one? Sweeeeeeeeet. Smilie At this point, I've just acquired the airship, so I'm making good progress, and once that game is done, I've got a strong urge to try game number 9. We'll see. Smilie

Hmm, okie dokie. Time for me to beat a hasty retreat for now, lest my fingers get too tired from typing and decide to find a new home around my throat, so I'll call it a day. Have a great Christmas everyone. Smilie
