The WiFi Experience

Or "How I learnt to pick up new skills."

Well last night, myself, Bluedragon (who Im guessing is The Hunter 123) and Conor decided that a little Metroid Prime wifi play was needed.

So at 8pm (BST), with friend codes added I went and logged on to the Nintendo Wifi. Met up with the other two bounty hunters and got some gaming on.

Now having never played Metroid Prime on wifi, except for one single game when I first bought the game, I opted for Samus. As she was the only character that I knew off and I hadn't tried any others.

Well with my character ready at teh tip of my finger, and a little bit of cramp in my hand already the game got underway.

Bluedragon (aka The Hunter 123*), bless him, must play this game constantly as he is very good. How is able to pull of a head shot from a long distance is anyones guess. Only he has the answer.
Although he did have the upper hand. Having gotten the red weapon in the single player game, Bluedragon was able to play as the red character. I forget names. And one attribute of this character is that he can turn invisible when standing still. Arse indeed!

Turns out, that after a little reading, turns out that the red character, apart being invisible also starts off with the red weapon, which it turns out has a zoom. For easier single head shot kills. At least the guy has done his homework.)
Conor on the other hand chose a way of playing that I've never seen done before. The one thing about playing games with people you've never battled against, is you wont know how they will play.
Conor decided to, instead of fighting, to chose to stand still and allow anyone to hit him without no fighting back.
It was only for Conor unique way of fighting that I was able to notch a few hits on my score.

On for another game I though. Why not? With Conor out of the game I figured that this would be pretty tough. And indeed the next game was. Without no one else to simply pick off I was battered.

Now I figured that this wasn't good. My stats are going to look shite. So I figured one last game, then Ill be off to go practise and try and find my own red character so I can have a few easy games.

In the next game, whether he took pity on me, or I had improved a ton withing 15 seconds I got a few kills.

Anyway. It was a great experience. I had loads of fun, despte the game being very one sided. The only way to get better is to play the best.

So if anyone else is ever up for some fighting let me know. It would be good for someone to distract Bluedragon while I try and get a few missles in at him!

The New Games

Or "Its always best to have a good range."

Well I got me that Battalion Wars for the Gamecube. Its alright, except just being missions only. Althoguh I had bid on this on ebay before the Missus had bought me my DSlite and in retrospect I think I'd would of rather lost the eBay bid and bought meself Mario Kart DS.

But anyway. I still needed a few more games for my DS lite. I have Nintendogs, but thats really for the Missus. And with her living in a different city I have to take care of the dogs from day to day, which is ok, but feels more of a chore then a game.

Next I have Metroid Prime. I'm stuck. I haven't a clue where to go, what to do, but whatever it is I have to do, I can't do it.
Also trying to arrange a Metroid Prime wifi game seems to be the hardest thing in the World. Anyone reading this please go to the Wi-Fi forum section for more info.

Now having a new console with one game that I felt was a chore and another that I'm stuck on I had to go get some others. I headed to my local 2nd hand store to see what they had in cheap and picked up for a total of

The Gift

Well after a few weeks of absense, I'm back. And this time I'm not alone.

After deciding which colour DS lite to chose from, it was decided that I chose the colour that costs the least. Basically to bid on eBay for DS lites and see waht I get.
After taking the Missus on holiday to Vienna I was a little skint and couldn't really afford paying for a light/dark blue DS to be shipped in.
After losing out a few bets on eBay, I decided to wait a few weeks. To bid on Battalion Wars for the GC, spend two weeks playing that, then when I have more money to go buy my DS lite.

That was until this weekend. The Missus had been saying she had a present. She wouldn't give any clues. She couldn't be tricked in to saying what it was. Normally the Missus cracks under any pressure when she has a secret. But she done a little too well this week.
When I saw her on Friday she told me to close my eyes and hold out my hands. She went in to her suitcase and put my present in my hands. When I opened my eyes I seen,.....well I guess were you can see this going.

It was a DS lite. Excellent

There was no reason for the present. It wasn't my birthday, it isn't Christmas. She just bought it as I had been bidding on so many.

We went out and bought myself Metroid. Getting pretty use to it, but got destroyed in wifi play I tested.
I would say "make sure you check out my wifi section and get my 'friend code,'" but it seems I didnt bring in the code to work with me this morning. But I'll post it soon, and will look out for any wifi battles taking place with members on here.

The Birthday Gift

The Idea
Well I've been anticipating getting moiself a DS Lite for some time.
The History
I've recetnly moved out of my home town to the big city, Leeds.
Now after finding my feet, getting a job and sorting out the finacials, I happened to meet, The Girl.
We've been seeing each other for a few weeks and all is well. She has a thing about cute animals and stuff, so we often visit zoo's. Her birthday is coming up and I was going to recomend taking her to Vienna, which has the oldest zoo.
I decided against that as it may be too earlier, so figured a small shopping trip would be better.
I happened, by chance to mention to the Mrs my original birthday plan and she was very excited, so I said "well if you push it back a few weeks we will still go."
I never assumed the Vienna trip to be a birthday present. We dont go till about 2 months after her birthday. So of course I still have to get her a birthday present, so the shopping spree will still stand.
The Dilema
As the DS has just been released I've mentioned it a few times to the Mrs. No reason, just chit chat.
She said to moi the other day
"Well instead of buying me a big present for my birthday, just buy yourself a DS."
Hmmm...I thought. This seems like it could be too good to be true.
"But it's your birthday. I have to get you something." I replied.
"Well your taking me to Vienna. That's my birthday present."
"Well it isnt until a few weeks after your birthday. It's not really a present. I still have to get you something."
The conversation never really ended properly. The subject was changed for some unknown reason.
But the Mrs has given me the option, to not only give her a present she has never had, but also for moi to get myself something.
The Answer
Is this a trick?
Do I take the DS and run? Would she hate moi for it?
Do I refuse and still get her a birthday present? 1
