Little Inferno (Teaser Trailer)

Not sure what genre this is, but as you can probably see (I know I recognised the art style straight away) the designers of the game are none other than 2D Boy! (The creators of World of Goo). It's also designed by the guys that brought us Henry Hatsworth, so expect great things.

The dev team is known as the "Tomorrow Corporation" and it consists of only 3 guys. Although there is no mention of a Wii U version in this teaser trailer, the list of platforms is on the site. Take a look for yourselves. Smilie

Just so's I don't end up posting a second outlandish rumour story as news, I'm putting it here, whereas the Wii U (its Virtual Catalogue in particular) will definitely be affected by this;

Remember when Nintendo sold RARE? What if a re-purchase is happening right now?

Definitely have a hard time believing this one, though I doubt Rare has been the most profitable acquisition for Microsoft over the past decade. Karn, any inside info if you're reading? Smilie

If this were true (Doubtful) do you know what this could mean (Besides the obvious Banjo-kazooie)? JET FORCE GEMINI! Smilie

Working like a fiend isn't very fun... and surprisingly isn't very fiendish either.

I think it's fake, and that seems to be the general consensus around the internet as well.

Also, has Zelda Informer ever been a trustworthy source of information?

A JFG remake or sequel would be great, although people would probably write it off as something like Lost Planet.

I think it would be a little more quirky than Lost Planet though. I mean you can play as Lupus, a dog with with Robotic armor, a jet pack, and a Cannon on his back. Smilie

Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter recently explained that he doesn't think fans of the publisher would actually buy a piece of cardboard but claimed they would be willing to purchase any Nintendo-labeled 'box'.

"I don't think Nintendo fans are so stupid they would buy a piece of cardboard. A box on the other hand, that says Nintendo on it, they probably would. Remember when you were a kid and you get gifts, and when you're really little you like the box better than the gift? That's how I think of Nintendo fanboys."

Yeah I buy a console just because it's made by Nintendo.

Oh wait, maybe it's because of the new and innovative ways you can play games with the new hardware.

Capcom has said it plans to reveal its first Wii U title very soon, but they won't be revealing their new game at this years GamesCom event which is taking place this week. My guess is sometime in September at a much rumoured Nintendo media summit dedicated to WiiU.

There is a rumour that we are working on a Wii U game."

"It won't be at this show . But we do have something waiting in the wings, and we will be talking about that very soon."

- Capcom's head of marketing for US and Europe Michael Pattison

Nintendo's not at gamescom in Germany? I thought they were always there...or am I just confusing this with gdc?

I think soon, probably September, we'll get the final price and date of the WiiU.

Sony reps claim PS Vita can do everything WiiU pad can, and even possibly better,

'ccept developers might not want to support a scheme where everything must be developed twice...

If they do it like Sony (buy either the PS3 version or PSVita version, get the other one for free), then it's not very cost effective in this day and age.

If they don't do it like them and sell both versions at the regular price, then it's too expensive on the player's part in this day and age as well.

I can't see how it's a good idea, unless they built the PS3 and vita so that gameplay from the PS3 could be streamed directly the PSVita just like the Wii U does with the Gamepad... but I highly doubt it.

The way Sony is advertising this is just for trying to make the Wii U feel less exceptional by tricking people into thinking that the PS3/Vita duo will be exactly the same thing (which from a casual player's point of view might appear to be the case, the way they show it). That's super cheap on their part. There will never be as many cross play PS3/Vita games as there will be games on the Wii U supporting the gamepad.

This Xander Davis dude sound like a right twat...

http://www.notenoughshaders.com/2012/08/15/darksiders-2-interview-with-xander-davis-about-thq-and-vigil/

A portion of an NES interview with former Vigil dev, Xander Davis...

NES: The Wii U version of Darksiders 2 comes out later this year. Did THQ and Vigil give the Wii U version any kind of priority or was it treated as a quick and dirty port? What was the general consensus about working on the new platform and what was it like developing a premier title for Nintendo?

XD: I've not worked on any Wii U version of anything (luckily). But, y'know, I very early on raised my major concern about this. Anybody buying any Wii U game that's a port is probably buying it almost exclusively and specifically for how it can play differently through the Wii U's alleged innovated UI. I'm already a known skeptic on whether the interface paradigm is at all anything but idiotic. But if you're gonna do it? Fine. Then, you HAVE to do it right. You HAVE to innovate on the UI. You HAVE to enhance game mechanics and gameplay in a MATERIAL way that justifies all the hassle and a $400 Xbox 360 seven years late. I can't comment on THQ / Vigil specifically. However, just in general, I doubt any studio or publisher is truly giving it the kind of proper UI design and thinking it deserves. Hell, apparently this is a huge leap for regular triple-A console releases. From what I'm hearing from people who have actually played a Wii U as recently as a month ago, the games pretty much suck and the tablet is pretty much a complete gimmick. Still tethered, not wireless. Maybe publishers can pull off something clever. But won't it just kind of be clever for a little bit, then not really worth your $60 dollars and just annoying afterwards? Kinect comes to mind. PlayStation Move comes to mind. Motherfucking Wii comes to mind. But, sure, we'll have to wait and see… I can't comment on specifics. I can only speculate, but as a UI Designer applying experienced critical thinking to game mechanics UI and the Wii U tablet, none of it makes sense to me to truly add value to gamers, even if you try.

Rofl, did he actually say that? What a jerk.

The only thing I agree with is that if you're going to port your game to Wii U, it better add something special.

Cubed3 Member

And people wonder why there is no innovation in games. Xander Davis Smilie What an ass.

"Yes, they'll give Nintendo a head start, and no, neither of them is concerned about the impact of a head start. They won't say it, but both manufacturers think Nintendo's glory days are behind it. I don't think the Wii U's head start will make much difference at all, since I don't expect it to be any more powerful than current generation consoles, but maybe Nintendo will surprise me." - Michael Pachter

Here's a thought for all those with Modded Wiis. Would that interfere with transferring data over to the Wii U when it releases? Kinda glad I haven't homebrewed mine now. Smilie
