Nintendo of America has been ordered to pay a whopping $21 Million to small developer Anascape for patent infringement.

Back in 2006 Texas-based Anascape filed lawsuits against both Nintendo and Microsoft for various patents they felt were used to create next-generation controllers. These patents, 12 in total, ranged from "Analog Sensor(s) with Snap-Through Tactile Feedback" to "Remote Controller with Analog Pressure Sensor(s)".

A federal jury has now found in favor of Anascape and has ordered Nintendo to pay out $21 Million (US) for infringing their patents in the Wii Classic, WaveBird and Gamecube controllers.

Fortunately both the Wii remote and nuchuck remain unscathed.

Nintendo spokesman Charlie Scibetta confirmed the company are looking to appeal and reduce the award sum significantly. Microsoft, on the other hand, said in a statement that terms of the settlement reached May 1 were confidential.

Wow that's a major payout, still with the money they are making it will not effect them as bad as it could have in previous years.

Why would we see a rise in prices? This is not a variable cost.
