Rumour; Shenmue 1 and 2 Sailing to Wii?
Recent News
A recent column in a Swedish Gaming Magazine suggests that Sega might be bringing two more classic games to the Wii.
The magazine, Game Reactor, stated in their Rumours section, that Shenmues 1 and 2 would be seeing a Wii release, possibly as a bundle, and there would be extra minigames included to make use of the Wii remote.

Since Sega have been re-releasing other classic titles such Samba de Amigo, House of the Dead, and Sega Bass Fishing on Wii, it's not unlikely to expect to see the two Shenmue games either. Plus, it would be a good move to drum up interest in a possible third in the series...

Shenmue is back! Sega has rereleased classics like Nights, Bass Fishing and House of the Dead lately. Now it's said that Shenmue is next. But don't think that it's about a new game, instead, they're bringing back the two original Shenmue games with extra Wiimote-minigames which will be released for the Wii.

LinkyshinksI have heard rumours about this also on another site.
If it is true it's great that those at SEGA are starting to listen to the fans.
SEGA seems to be heading in the right direction now what with the acquisition of Platinum/SEEDS/Clover. We are now amazingly going to see more mature content orientated game's, and from them of all companies lol. You would think that it would be Capcom that would initiate this sort of thing, but no, quite frankly Capcom have been VERY lame in their approach to Wii thus far. This is going to make SEGA very successful on Wii, I am certain of that, I just hope that Capcom take notice and get their act together also.

noneAlmost a dream come true for me if this is true. I'm pining for Shenmue 3 but bringing the first two to Wii would give me a chance to play them over again.
I really, really hope this paves the way for Shenmue 3.

Well if it sells as well as SEGA's other games on Wii it certainly could make a 3 more likely, but likely with a different team.
I really hope it gets some graphical enhancements and Wii Remote Motion controls like with RE4 Wii Edition had.
The hardcore fraction of Wii owners would eat this game up, all they have to do is see one sole trailer.

Was there some kinda buzz before?
Sega is taking all the right steps on the Wii yes, unlike Ubisoft (looks at Beyond Good and Evil and sighs)

BombermanThis is the first time I've heard of this, I really hope it's true! My disk 3 of Shenmue 1 never worked. Keeping my fingers crossed about this. I just hope they don't change it too much for the Wii controls. Although the interactive cutscenes would be good with Wii controls.
Sig will be made... When I have time.

noneHave played through Shenmue 1 and 2 multiple times but would happily do it again on Wii, especially if it would help towards 3. Didn't this magazine get it right about NiGHTS on Wii?

jbcubed3.Would love to see it make its way to Wii - hopefully if it does, it'll get some visual improvements and multiple control schemes (Wii, GC, Classic).
Going by Sega's recent DC - > Wii ports/remakes, I'm not expecting much effort if this rumour turns out to be true.

Link / SuperLink9This would be too good to be true. I also expect that even after this SEGA would make the hypothetical 3rd game on 360 anyway. Who knows? Maybe they're testing the waters.
I'd fucking buy it in a second. The problem is, those who don't have a Wii and have already played it may not support it. Will it get the support it needs? Start an awareness petition RIGHT NOW BITCHES.
Buy it and we get Shenmue III, simple as.

noneI've played Shenmue II on the Xbox and I wasn't crazy for it. The controls almost ruined it for me, so a control revamp might help me.
Maybe I was expecting too much from it. It's hyped up to death on C3.

I've heard a bazillion rumours just like this one over the last five years. They've all turned out to be bullshit. Can't see why this one should be any more legit. I'm the biggest Shenmue fan on C3, and I'm extremely skeptical about this.

This is quite anal, but RE4: Wii Edition had no graphical enhancements. It supported true 16:9, that was all. The actual graphics were identical. And I can see Wiimote controls having as much chance of totally ruining Shenmue as improving it. They'd have to be really careful how they implemented it. But it won't happen, anyway.

16:9 480p is not a enhancement over the first is it, cos that's what I want to make it look more cinematic and crisper..

noneSounds good to me, apprehensive about the new controls though, fingers crossed it's done correctly...
... Or that's what I would be saying if I believed that this would truly happen, but I can't see it in a million years!
I'm sorry for being pessimistic, but that's how I see it.

noneIf this happens, I'm going to fucking shit kittens. And then go straight out and buy a Wii. And then pre-order this re-release as soon as it becomes available for pre-order, and then buy two or three copies to inflate sales, in the vain hope that they will then be encouraged to finish the saga.
If this turns out to be true, my choice of current-gen console (I don't have any of them at the momment) will be made.
