Oxygen Games Talks Pirates WiiWare

By Jorge Ba-oh 20.05.2008 2

Oxygen Games have revealed new details and screens from the upcoming WiiWare project: Pirates: The Key of Dreams.

Pirates: The Key of Dreams sees a navy captain sent undercover to retrieve a lost treasure…the Key of Dreams, from the hands of one of the most devious sea captains, Blackbeard. To find the lost artefact he sets sail to seven different locations spanning 3 parts of the globe to eventually confront his nemesis.
To aid his quest, players can recruit crew members to increase the overall skill of their ship, and kit the team out with a slew of weapons from sea mines to rockets, cannons to flame canons. There'll be 10 levels to play through in the main story mode.

A single player battle "Skirmish" mode sees 35 smaller arenas where 2 or 3 computer players join your ship in an all out brawl. Bring in more human sea scum and you've got yourself a multiplayer mode where 2 to 4 can battle it out in the same levels as the single environment, as well as using some special ships enchanted ice and ghost.

The WiiWare project is a prequel to their DS project, Pirates: Duels on the High Seas, and will hit virtual stores across Europe on May 30th.

This sounds like a reasonable, simple game that could well be very addictive in multiplayer if well handled. However it will be interesting to see if other people can bring their own ships to battle it out with friends, and if so, how this is handled.

Nice to see some interesting projects surfacing though!

May you be in heaven for half an hour before the devil knows you are dead.

Looks good - and out in just over a week's time too! Hopefully will handle well.
