Rare Considered DS to Xbox 360 Connectivity

By Jorge Ba-oh 21.05.2008 11

Rare have recently revealed that Nintendo DS to Microsoft 360 was considered for Viva Pinata.

Whilst the company were working on the DS version of the quirky franchise, an option to connect to the upcoming 360 version had been tested out, according to MTV Multiplayer.

We got it to work, but it was too late in the development cycle. It's one of those things where you just kick yourself.

Would Nintendo have agreed on linking the systems together? How do you feel about rival machines connecting to one another?

Would have been very interesting.

I guess it's possible it will appear in a future game instead.

Would have been cool! But how would it have been done? And would Nintendo allow it?

I couldn't have seen Nintendo allowing it...they're usually not too keen on stuff like that, are they? Smilie
Would have been cool though. Hell, the Wii needs more DS connectivity. Isn't Pokmon the only thing that's used it so far...?

\"Would Nintendo have agreed on linking the systems together?\"

I dont think its something Nintendo could veto.
No more then saying \"oh, we wont allow your game to work with that wireless router\"

WiFi is wifi, with correct code you could even have DS<>PSP<>Laptop multiplayer.

I mean, worse case, you could always send data to the internet, which the xbox360 could then pick up on its own.

The idea didn't involve linking the systems so i don't think nintendo or microsoft would have mind really.

It was just going to be pictures of cards on the ds screens, hold them up to the live vision camera, camera recognises card and bingo you get a bonus thingy.
