Street Fighter IV Skips Nintendo (Update)

By Jorge Ba-oh 28.05.2008 10

Update 29/05/2008: There may still be chance (again) for the game to appear on systems other than those confirmed.

According to Kombo, the game has been tagged with "To be determined" after the initially announced systems - giving some hope for those wanting a Nintendo release:

"Format: Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 system, PC, To be determined," and "Release date: TBA (Xb360, PS3, PC, TBD)."

Original Story 28/05/2008:

Capcom have confirmed Street Fighter IV will not be heading to the Wii.

Recent rumours suggested that the game would not be making its way to Nintendo's Wii, despite Capcom's enthusiasm to spread the Street Fighter love. Today Capcom has confirmed that Street Fighter IV will be be heading to Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC, with no mention of a Nintendo Wii or DS release.

A different version of the game or unique entry in the series may still be on the cards as Capcom has yet to comment on the lack of a Nintendo version of the next-generation Street Fighter.

Yeah it is a shame but hopefully Nintendo will get something, the previous sales swing in Nintendo\'s favour-

10 best-selling Capcom games of all time

1. Street Fighter II--Super Nintendo--6.3 million *

2. Resident Evil 2--PlayStation--4.96 million

3. Street Fighter II Turbo--Super Nintendo--4.1 million *

4. Resident Evil 3 Nemesis--PlayStation--3.5 million
5. Resident Evil--PlayStation--2.75 million
6. Dino Crisis--PlayStation--2.4 million
7. Devil May Cry 4--PlayStation 3, Xbox 360--2.3 million
8. Devil May Cry--PlayStation 2--2.16 million
9. Monster Hunter Freedom 2--PlayStation Portable--2.15 m
10. Onimusha: Warlords--PlayStation 2--2.02 million

An altogether new Street fighter for Nintendo consoles would not be a bad thing at all.

The SF4 arcade game will be out on July 12 in Japan.

Bah.

Great. I bet this time next year they'll issue a press release: "Due to the huge success of Wii we've decided to port Street Fighter IV to the console. It will be due March 2009."

It would be really ironic if the Wii got a 2D Street Fighter, because it's "not powerful enough" to do the new shit-looking one.

A good looking one would be a 2D one, not this whole 2.5 thing. The new KoF looks far better-

That looks fucking amazing. That's an example of SNK listening to what their fans want, and Capcom not listening to what their fans want.

It's a shame it's not being released for the Wii, but hopefully Capcom will be releasing a new 2D one on Wiiware.

And there you have it. I guess ignorance really is bliss.

...frick\'n Capcom...

OMG! Now that\'s what I\'m talking about. It\'s great to see SNK is upping the animation quality (considerably!) for the new KOF! And of course, the graphics. Sick!

Chance favors the prepared mind.
