Battle of the Bands (Wii) PC Demo Available

By Adam Riley 30.05.2008 3

To celebrate the release of THQ's music game on Wii, Battle of the Bands, the company has released a special online PC demo version to give consumers a small taste of what they can expect from the Wii title.

Make sure you check it out here.

And to recap on just what the Wii game, which launched across Europe on 23rd May, is all about, here is the official blurb from THQ:

Battle of the Bands brings the ultimate battle of the bands to the Wii! Using a rhythm-based gameplay mechanic, the game utilizes the Wii remote's functionality to create an original musical combat experience, using 70 over-the-top musical weapons ranging from the sniper violin to the flamethrower guitar! Choose your musical style and battle it out with your customizable band, taking on 10 bands before trying to topple the nefarious big boss Mr Hong.

Battle of the Bands introduces the concept of "music switching," putting the player winning the battle in control of the style of music both players hear. When an opponent turns the tide of battle, the music changes as well, switching between different music styles. The game features 30 classic and modern chart-topping hits from over the last four decades, all of which have been recorded in five different styles - (rock, funk/hip-hop, country, Latin and marching band) - for the game, resulting in a total of 150 unique, playable recordings.

Be sure to share your thoughts on the game if you have already given it a whirl...

Gave it a quick go during Play Live 2008 - was pretty impressive, enjoyed the blend of musical styles and the seemless switching between players. Was pretty enjoyable I must say, though I can't see myself actively purchasing it at full price.

Would make an excellent party game though!

Play.com are selling this for 12.99, which is an excellent price, for what seems to be quite a good game. Smilie

I may try out the demo sometime.
