Nintendo Channel for Wii Arrives in Europe

By Jorge Ba-oh 30.05.2008 13

The video, demo and information channel has arrived in Europe as a free-to-download entry in the Wii Shop.

The software allows players to access regional-specific content on the latest Nintendo releases and forthcoming games. A series of high quality videos can be selected and streamed, including interviews with developers, recent country-specific events (for example, the UK Wii Fit launch event) and a series of trailers for popular Nintendo titles.

DS games can be wirelessly transmitted to your handhelds for a quick burst of action before deciding on purchasing the titles.

Nintendo would like to announce the launch of the Nintendo Channel, which is now available free of charge from the Wii Shop Channel.

The Nintendo Channel allows you to search for and review the latest product information on software titles for Wii and Nintendo DS. Additional features allow you to download demos of Nintendo DS software to your Nintendo DS, and a polling feature will collate user opinions making it easier to search for titles that may be of interest to you

Players need to ensure they have the right firmware installed to run the channel by performing a quick system update.

What are you thoughts on the channel? A worthy addition to your daily slice of Nintendo, or could it have been done better? Be sure to have your say below.

Should be fairly decent this, but its just more space wasted on a small amount of memory for the wii. All of the channels take up about half the space of the wii's actual memory.

I downloaded it early this morning and gave it a go.

It's really good so far and I can see it being one of my favourite channels. The DS demos are pretty good, I really loved 42 All Time Classics, I may buy it sometime now.

A lot of the videos were running really slow for me though, which was a shame.

The videos for me were running better than vidoes running on my pc! DS downloads are cool probally the best channel so far (bar the shopping cannel of course! Smilie)

Looks pretty decent! Videos load pretty slowly for me, but still runs well. Not happy with the sodding jingle SFX though, really irritating!

Finally. Next obstacle: What the hell do I feel like getting rid of to make space for this? It's starting to get ridiculous. I'm going to have to start doing it with every game I get.

I really think I won't be able to cope with all the juggling for much longer. Has anyone considered a petition for Nintendo? They still think only a minority see the Wii's memory as a problem. It pisses me the hell of.

It all works very fast for me, I have had no problems with it thankfully. I spent the early hours of this morning reviewing all my 80 games. It was quite enjoyable and quick to do also. Videos are cool, nice that they continue to play as your browse, nice menu's too.

I really love Wii's menu's the same goes for the Shopping Channel. It's sooo much better than the cluttered crap on XBLM, I can find things with ease within seconds.

That\'s true, but on the other hand XBOX Live doesn\'t take like 2 minutes to connect, and 5 minutes to get to the marketplace, with a 10 second wait on every link you click on.

EDIT: I realised my connection is probably just awful. I really need to get wired, but I still think it\'s ridiculously slow at times.

This channel is so cool.

I now like 42 all time classics just because of checkers, and it only took 2 minutes to get on and download it on to my DS.

Eh? I only saw Brain Training and Big Brain Academy demos up there.
And the movies are working really fast for me.

Ya I ficd actually connect to and of the online channels slow but when I in everything run smoothly and I usually have a pretty shitty connection.

reviewing all my 80 games

Are they all first party and exclusive third paty games because they are the only games coming up for me.

No, the connection speed of Wii really is just shit. I thought the same, but I switched to a LAN adapter last week so I could easily flick between Live and Wifi Connection and, while it was a bit faster, the speed difference is silly. Live is far quicker.

Will check this out later on!

Everythings super fast for me. It only takes a couple of seconds for the videos to load and to change pages. You must have a slow internet connection if it's slow. It definately isn't the Wii that's slow.Smilie

I love the new channel. Hope they add allot more soon.

List up your games and I\'ll see if I can help whittle them down for you!

Since I started deleting stuff the other week for Wiiware I\'ve got the hang of it now- all thats safe on my Wii is the DKC trilogy. If you have N64 games then get rid- I deleted Sin & Punishment and recouped a good number of blocks from it. Smilie
