Nintendo Bringing Tashiten to DS in Europe/Australia

By Adam Riley 03.06.2008

The muumuu-developed game that Cubed³ deemed a 'Brain Training killer' last October is finally set to grace PAL territories it seems. Nintendo teamed up with small-time Japanese developer muumuu to bring Japan a niche mathematics-related title called Tashiten: Tashite 10 ni Suru Monogatari, a video of which can be seen below:

It is a quirky little puzzle adventure filled with cute characters and a great sense of style that will appeal to all ages and scored an impressive 30/40 in Famitsu magazine and sadly only amassed around 50,000 unit sales in its first month on sale. The game revolves around the number '10', with players faced with numerous puzzles where they must 'Make 10', which unsurprisingly is to be the Western name for the game. It has been noticed that the Australian ratings board, the OFLC, has today added Make 10: A Journey of Numbers to its listings. Whilst the US will likely miss out, as it has already done with Professor Kageyama's Maths Training, the massive success of the training games in Europe and Australia will have no doubt spurred Nintendo on to bring over this small-time project and ride the wave of popularity.

This also bodes well for the Vitei-developed puzzle title 'Theta' (the team started by one-time Nintendo employee Giles Goddard, most famous for his solo work on the first 1080 Snowboarding), a fun little game that sadly also underperformed in Japan but would be perfectly suited to the strong DS market in PAL regions.
