Following success of Zack & Wiki: Quest for Barbaros' Treasure, Capcom has unveiled another brand new Wii exclusive project, this time going by the name of 'Spyborgs' and developed by upstart developer Bionic Games.
Whilst everyone's focus at the moment is on Resident Evil 5, Bionic Commando and the stunning looking Street Fighter IV, a new Intellectual Property popped up at the company's Captivate 08 event last week over in Las Vegas, USA.
The game, which is due sometime in 2009, is an Sci-Fi themed action adventure that mixes puzzles in as well and comes from Bionic Games, a team that can be likened to High Impact Games in that it has several former Insomniac Games team members in it. In fact, the project is being headed up by none other than Mike Stout, who previously worked as the Lead Multiplayer Designer for Resistance: Fall of Man on PlayStation 3.
Spyborgs is set to try and emulate everyone's favourite Saturday morning TV show and includes a team of uber-spies, with characters such as Bouncer, Kinetic, Clandestine, Voxel and Stinger included in the roster available. The title will mix up traditional action battling with puzzles that can be solved co-operatively. Coming from the people that brought us Ratchet & Clank, the game throws players stacks of humour throughout whilst avoiding being too childish.
Different missions during the game are split into episodes with fake advertisments littering play to give a stylised feel to the adventure. There will be a wide variety of gameplay styles included as well, with on-rails shooting elements and large boss battles. Gamers are encouraged to play in pairs, since each level has two characters working alongside each other, but solo players can have just as much fun with the second character controlled by the computer. Mike Stout went on record to allay any fears of this being aimed at children and not being a strong Wii game on the whole, stating "We want to be on the Wii - we don't want to port over a game like everyone else. Most of the games on the Wii are ports or micro-games and we think gamers are getting sick of that."

Update - The official Press Release can be found below:
Capcom Entertainment, a leading worldwide developer and publisher of video games, today announced Spyborgs, a new action game coming exclusively to the Wii home video game system from Nintendo. In Spyborgs, players take on the role of a diverse team of five bionic superspies in a fight to save the world from a group of dastardly villains. Wii gamers will be set to save the world when the game launches in 2009.
The first title developed by Bionic Games, a newly-formed development team comprised of former Insomniac Games and High Impact developers known for their work on hugely popular franchises Ratchet and Clank and Resistance: Fall of Man, Spyborgs is a unique action-adventure game set in a stylish world that resembles a Saturday morning cartoon. Engaging players in team-based challenges designed to utilize 2-player co-op play, Spyborgs takes the theme of "team" to a whole new level of fun. In Single-player mode the "team" theme continues as players jump from one member of the superspies' team to the next, rapidly tackling different challenges designed around each character's unique abilities. Fast, addictive gameplay, unique controls offered by the Wii Remote, and a storyline that refuses to take itself too seriously, Spyborgs will provide players with a dynamic and fresh gaming experience like no other.
"Our goal is to maximize the potential of the innovative Wii Remote while delivering a new paradigm in cooperative game play. We also wanted to bring a lot of humor to the game which we feel we have accomplished. This game will make you laugh — for all the right reasons."
- Michael Haller, president, Bionic Games.
Players jump between the identities of a team of five bionic superspies to combat a rogue squad of wacky, dysfunctional super villains. Each character has unique powers to match their super-spy skills, such as heavy firepower, martial arts, bladed weaponry, acrobatic skateboarding skills or pure robotic destruction. This cast of characters may make a misfit group individually, but by utilizing them as a team, the Spyborgs will have the power to save the world – if they don't blow themselves up first! Spyborgs' tongue-in-cheek action and compelling interactive cartoon theme keeps players engaged from the first episode to the last with one of the most fun and entertaining games to be developed for the Wii system.

Cheers for that LS, added to the story now
More details are in the news piece as well.
Anyone think Bouncer looks like a large Clank? This looks like it could be great fun.

Without the trailer it's just... 'meh'. The trailer makes me hot for the game. I love strange humour!

There is no TV show. As stated in the story, the game is trying to emulate people's favourite Saturday morning TV shows, and includes fake TV ads to add style to the game.

So it\'s original? If it was liscenced I\'d feel differently... but this could be quite good.
EDIT: lol. I can never imagine getting original exclusive content like this from Ubi. Oh well.
Graphics could be better, but it looks funny. Could be fun.( Edited 03.06.2008 16:32 by SuperLink )

Agreed. I even like the idea of the random 'ad' minigames scattered within the show, which should be very funny and break up any action that might get to monotonous, though there looks to be a fair variety of gameplay.

I was kind of thinking that too, but this looks like it could be really fun. Always down for some co-op games too. Lets hope this new property doesn't let us down.
