Street Fighter IV on Wii? 'Not Yet' Says Capcom

Capcom had initially stated it would be bringing Street Figher IV to as many consoles and portables as possible. But will a Wii edition be arriving? Not yet, according to Capcom's Yoshinori Ono, Producer of the new project.

During the Captivate 08 event last week, Ono-san stated "The fact of the matter is we haven't planned for a Wii version yet," and rather embarrassingly he had to personally apologise directly to Nintendo about the rumours of a Wii version coming.

It makes you wonder what was said during that conversation. Surely Nintendo will be actively encouraging Capcom to bring a version of SFIV to DS and Wii, especially given how the Street Fighter franchise has been most popular on the Super Nintendo in the past.

Still, hopes are high, especially since Ono-san did not say SFIV was not coming altogether, just that planning for Wii has not yet begun. Clearly a Wii edition would have to be optimised for the console since it is weaker than the PS3 and Xbox 360, plus the control set-up would likely have to be altered as well.

I would like a 2D Street Fighter game instead from Capcom, and preferably not made by him.

After watching this video my hope is that SF Alpha 4 comes to Wii-

I'd like a SFIV 2D game. Something Martin might actually prefer on Wii than on 360! *false hope*

One day I will be a real life anime.

When I think Fighting Genre on Wii, I end up thinking 'It ain't going to work'. Not in the traditional sense of 'punch with remote' anyway.

But then I realized, if motion won't work best, what about the pointer? Think about it. Obviously it won't be a screen covering cursor, but a simple little red dot.

Keep fighting based on the 2D plane, let buttons control punches and kicks, but let the pointer decide where those punches and kicks will hit. In the face, stomach area, on the arm (a weakening body-part system perhaps), even for a stamp on the foot. I'd love to try out Street fighter with that kind of system.Smilie

Yes, No, Maybe so... I NEED TO KNOW ALREADY!!!

Oh and I'm totally loving the idea of a SFIV in 2D on the DS.

Heck a portable version of Super Smash Bros. would be lovely as well. Smilie

    That sounds superb.
And actualy, quite a bit more skillfull then the normal button bashing combo-based systems.

I would like it to be a 2D game rather than a 3D one because when Capcom made street fighter on the PS2 and that was 3D and it sucked really badly. Also it should have some new fighters in it than the usual cast.Smilie
