Wario Land Wii Plot Revealed

By Jorge Ba-oh 12.06.2008 13

Story details for Wario Land: The Shake Dimension have been revealed in the latest edition of Famitsu.

A section in the magazine revealed the first story and production details for the upcoming Wii game.

Within an Ancient Globe (an old, giant globe exhibited at a museum), there is another world called Yuretopia (translator: "yure" = tremor/shaking). Yuretopia's peace is shattered by the marauding pirate Shay King (translator: whatever). Queen Melfull and her Melfull subjects are imprisoned. Not only that, Shay King claims the legendary treasure "Deldel Purse," which spits out coins whenever it is shaken. Captain Maple Syrup, the female pirate, observes Yuretopia's crisis from the outside world. Setting her eyes on the legendary treasure but with no desire of doing the dirty work herself, she steals the Ancient Globe and sends it to Wario. True to form, Wario prepares to raid the beleaguered kingdom when Queen Melfull escapes to the outside world in hopes of finding help. Beseeched by the Queen to become a hero to the kingdom, Wario sets off to Yuretopia where the promise of vast treasures beckons...

According to reports, Production I.G. is also said to be involved in a series of cutscenes within the game. The studio is well known for their anim, film and video game productions - including the Tales RPG series, Xenogears, Ghost in the Shell and Professor Layton and the Curious Village.

Thanks to the folks at NeoGAF and C3 reader Linkyshinks for the tip.

Does sound great, looking better than when originally announced. T'will be awesome! Hope it doesn't flop at market with the general consumer looking for some amazing 3D thing.

Smilie Syrup is back!

I want Mr. G&W to be in there somewhere though. It's nice he was revived in the Wario series somewhat.

It'll be a hit in Japan no matter what, I reckon. WarioWare: Smooth Moves showed how popular Wario still is over there, selling nearly 600,000 copies so far, and Super Paper Mario showed Wii owners there are also happy to pick up a home console 2D game (think that's sold around 500,000 units).

Good news that captain syrup is finally back. It's some sort of "lost" Nintendo Character which i had thought at the time of Wario Land 2 would become the definite Wario enemy, like Mario and Bowser, and which mysteriously disappeared from the scene.

The Game itself doesn't look half bad either. I wonder though what the cut-scenes are gonna look like in motion.

woah, the cutscene screenshots look amazing! I hope they have a Wario cartoon after the game.

OMG! Smilie The return of Cpt. Maple Syrup! This game is sounding more and more awesome. Smilie Each little peice of info that gets released really wets my appetite. lol And it doesn\'t hurt that the game is looking quite gorgeous. Smilie

Now, where\'s Waluigi? Smilie I hope the big N doesn\'t skimp on him for yet another Wario Land/World adventure. *sigh*

Yeah, I agree. In addition to Syrup, I really feel Ninty should bring back classic Mario universe badguys like Wart and Tatanga. Classic minor characters like Tweeter, Snifit, Ninji, etc. should also be re-introduced, imo. You gotta love the classics. lol Smilie

I want Wart back! A team up with Bowser would be awesome. *Unreal Tournament announcer\'s voice* Godlike! Smilie

Chance favors the prepared mind.

Waluigi isn\'t a Wario character, he\'s a Mario Party character. Much like Birdo. That\'s how I see it.

Any Wario game with Waluigi in it is a tragic failure in my eyes. I sure hope he doesn\'t even get a cameo in this.

EDIT: Dude... they have to make a Wario anime... I\'m loving this game already! Smilie Can\'t wait can\'t wait can\'t wait can\'t wait!

Ouch. You cut me deep. Smilie

Seriously though, I'm sorry you feel that way. Personally, I love Waluigi and don't have any qualms seeing him as an equal co-star to Wario like Luigi is to Mario. If done right, it could be awesome. Easily. Smilie Smilie

Waluigi is a worse fanboy recolour than Shadow The Hedgehog.

No he's not! Shadow is supposed to be taken seriously while Waluigi is there for comic relief. We don't want a total rehash of all the old characters, use the newer ones better, bring on Waluigi!

Looking very good, it looks like the cut scenes will be anime!

I see all these people insulting the Nintendo corporation because of the lack of mature content. Yet there is something about Nintendo (at least their games) that strikes a certain unadulterated feeling of joy!!!  Pokemon Y - 1048-9263-5562

Nintendo 2-D Platformers are usually very good. Hope this one is no exception.
