Little King Story Officially Confirmed for the US, Europe

By Jorge Ba-oh 12.06.2008 6

XSeed Games and Marvelous Entertainment have announced a second co-publishing deal bringing Little King's Story to the West this Winter.

The publishers revealed that the Wii exclusive, previously known as Project O, will officially be brought over this year. It has a story-book, traditional art style that Marvelous's managing director Yasuhiro Wada feels will be "universally loved". XSEED Games, who will act as the developer's publishing arm in the US, feels the game will "appeal to a wide audience while providing enough depth for seasoned gamers."

Little King's Story follows the tale of a young chap, Corobo, who one day finds a crown whilst scavenging through the woods near his home. He returns and is told he is now the King, and begins to transform the small town into a kingdom that fairytales are made of. Players follow the ickle king, much like Square-Enix's Final Fantasy spinoff for WiiWare, to govern their subjects, grant their wishes and conquer other lands.

On the European front, Rising Star Games has confirmed a 2009 release for the game having the same name as the US counterpart Little King Story.

Little King's Story is a project we're incredibly excited about bringing to the PAL territories. There's been a massive groundswell of enthusiasm for this title since being showcased at last year's Tokyo Games Show. The game perfectly reflects the quality of gaming experience and design creativity fans of this genre now demand.

Love it, love the art, like the style, really looking forward to this. Cing are a cool developer.

C3 screens do not do this game justice :/.

Be sure to check out the full media album and not just the six images on the news story page...there are some that look fantastic for a Wii game.

Cing, Townfactory and Marvelous together on what people originally called the 'Dream Project'. Can't wait! Smilie

Hmm, the art/style look good, but from what I\'ve seen of the screens (in the album too), it looks a bit shoddily produced - poor textures, ugly character models. Visually looks like a high-end DS product.

Yeah the art is great, and these screens don't really do it much justice. It looks much better in motion. I do think that the character models could use some work though.

Haven't heard much about this one in a while. Glad to hear it's crossing the water.

Thanks, those look far better. I think a lot of those textures are intentional, not bad, just intentional looking at the scans of artwork alongside the pixelated models (they seem to show those pixels without shame). I think they aimed to replicate the essence found in the drawn art style. Also, take also into fact these are scans from a magazine instead of direct feed screens.

I really wish I could go out and buy this today, this is the kind of game I want on Wii.
