Mega Man 9 to go Multi-platform

By Shane Jury 14.06.2008 12

A recent Ratings Board addition sees Capcom's Megaman series going for number 9, and Nintendo's platforms suggested as possible destinations.

The Classification Board of the Australian Government states the existence of Mega Man 9, the first in the proper Numbered line since 1997's Mega Man 8.

The title is listed as Multi-Platform, so that, together with the Blue Bomber's long history of games on Nintendo systems, gives support to the notion that Wii and DS will receive versions of this game.
Could we be seeing more of this title at the upcoming E3 expo?

Mega Man 9Smilie Yes finally.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

THE HELL WITH NEW MEGA GAMES THEIR ALL THE SAME ANYWAY!

I WANT MY MEGAMAN X ON VC!!!

A fail so epic, it may just be a win.

Wow. This is surprising. Capcom has milked the poor Megaman franchise so much, the cow is already dead, and now they're just getting blood from it. lol Yet apparently, they feel they aren't doing enough. So they're going back to the original series? The disturbing thing is, I'm both terrified and excited at the same time.Smilie *sigh* I'm a bad person. Well, maybe we'll get Megaman X9, too.SmilieSmilie

It is Megaman's 20th Anniversary, though. Can't you tell with the huge celebration Capcom is having marking 20 years of the Blue Bomber?Smilie Seriously though, where is the celebration for one of gaming's most beloved game characters?Smilie

Over the past several years, Capcom (well, in addition to just about every other 3rd party co.) has created a rather well document record of screwing over "the Nintendo version" of whatever game they deem is okay to release on it. I'm afraid a possible multiplatform Megaman 9 on Wii is going to be an injustice to our favorite blue cybernetic hero, the house that Mario built (where, incedently, Megaman made his name), and the fans that party there.Smilie

I just want to know why in the f*** Capcom has not released ANY Megamam or Megaman X games on the VC here in the States!Smilie I want the original SNES version of Megaman X3, damnit.

Chance favors the prepared mind.

I think the Mega Man series is a case of less is more. I loved 1 - 6 (although 6 was a case of tough love) and the Gameboy iterations. 7 and 8, didn't care about them much at all. I'm all for graphical and gameplay upgrades in my favorite series (look at Metroid Prime), but for me, the original Mega Man series stopped working once it hit the 16-bit generation.

I'm hoping for a WiiWare/PSN/XBLA type of release. Just give us some 2-D Mega Man with good level design. I'll deal with something like Giraffe Man if we can just get that.

I hope this is a return to the classics in style.

I hope so too. All the recent ones have been so weird.

Id rather have a port of resident 5Smilie

Apparenlty the OFLC often mistakenly labels games 'multi-platform', so it could still just be one system...

Capcom said beacause of low RE4 sells on Wii they chose not to port RE5, so instead they ported RE0SmilieSmilie yeah big WTF moment. Well since my Blue Bomber love started with the X series (born in 1988) I\'m not to sure about Mega Man 9 although I did like MM8Smilie my nostalgia comes from X. But hey depending on the high difficulty curve and play style of MM9 I may look into it. If it\'s to easy I wont buySmilie

Are we sure it's not X9? The latest Megaman X game was 8 wasn't it? Besides Megaman & Bass is basically Megaman 9 anyway. It even used the exact same sprites as Megaman 8 Smilie
