Datel have issued a statement to owners of the Wii Freeloader, urging users not to update their systems.
The other day the blinking blue light caused havoc for Wii owners in Europe/Australia due to Nintendo's 3.3 firmware update blocking the Freeloader from use.
Those wanting to continue to use import games on their systems, the official word is to keep systems on Wii firmware version 3.2 or lower. It seems that Datel won't be issuing 3.3-compatible updates in the near future, with long-term effects for Wii importers left uncertain.
Should Nintendo have blocked the Freeloader or should consumers be free to use and import with their hard-earned dosh?

Please note, due to circumstances beyond our control Wii Freeloader is not compatible with latest version Wii firmware 3.3 and higher, just released (released as an online update 17/06/2008).
You can continue to use Wii Freeloader perfectly with any Wii console running firmware 3.2 and below. If you upgrade to Wii firmware 3.3 or higher this WILL disable the Freeloader function and it will stop working for all future use on all import games.

I was expecting this to be them saying that they plan on realising another Freeloader to counteract the update and to hell with the people that have got the current Freeloader.

Knew this would happen. I don't think anyone can have any complaints, but its not a nice thing to happen.

Oh well, there would probably be some games that will come out with the update anyway.
