Camelot Considering Breath of Fire RPG Revival
Recent News
During an interview set to be published this weekend, Camelot's Takahashi Brothers revealed that the company's RPG team has expanded and they would consider taking on any projects. Given their current deal with Capcom for the highly anticipated We Love Golf, in an interview about the sports title the possibility of working closely with Capcom on a Breath of Fire revival was mentioned and the response was positive to say the least:
So would you want the expertise of Camelot working on Capcom's long redundant RPG series or should the team's efforts be focused on something like Golden Sun instead? Be sure to air your thoughts by posting below...
Cubed³'s Adam Riley: Considering your current deal with Capcom, and the fact that the company has left its Breath of Fire series untouched for far too long, would you ever give consideration to tackling the resurrection of that RPG franchise?
The Takahashi Brothers: We get asked this a lot recently. The development team is extremely important in making an RPG and when some of the team left after Mario Tennis GBA we had to say it wasn’t possible. Lately, however, the gap is being filled and I’m quite confident to take on pretty much anything. It is possible to start planning for titles such as the Breath of Fire series. As I mentioned earlier, the number of games we can develop at a time is quite limited so we would like to consider what people want the most in order to determine the next title for development.

noneI'd prefer if they granted us with a new HGolden Sun rather then a Breath of Fire game. Even though i like both franchises, i definetly prefer Golden Sun over the other one.
I used to be Umaro in my previous life. Really !!!

Link / SuperLink9Golden Sun NEEEEEEDS revival. I'd pay £40 for it. If it's on DS it's automatically a bargain!

D_prOdigyI remember playing Breath of Fire IV on PSone. It was actually the first RPG I'd ever played. The opening Japanese intro confused me and the big, firey battle animations stunned my simple mind.

noneBoF and BoF II on the SNES are great games. I strongly suggest people download the VC version of BoF II if they've not alreay played it. BoF III is cracking as well...I wasn't too struck on BoF IV, though. Thankfully Dragon Quarter was a fine return to form and had a magnificent soundtrack from Sakamoto-san!
Camelot's done the likes of Golden Sun and Shining Force III, so it'd be great to see them lend their RPG talents to the BoF series. Let's hope Capcom's up for the idea as well!

noneThis would be pretty class... of course Golden Sun III would be too. If you haven't got it and you are interested in RPGs then I recommend downloading BoF II onto your virtual console.

noneGolden Sun, duh.
Its one of the very few RPG's with decent puzzles as well as huge landscapes to explore.
Not to mention a really kick-arse game engine.

IxisNaugus (Ixis will do)I must agree with Jesusraz, I quite recently completed BoF2 for the SNES on VC and let me tell you it was well worth it.
That said, i wonder when the next Golden Sun will pop up, there was no denying the awesomeness of the GBA versions, in fact i still play them now. Also, Mario Tennis/Golf DS ftw
