Capcom Talks Mega Man 9, First Screens

By Jorge Ba-oh 03.07.2008 12

Capcom's Keiji Inafune recently discussed the company's Mega Man 9 reveal for WiiWare.

Last week came a short snippet from Nintendo Power, highlighting the game as a 2D homage to the classics on the NES. More recently Inafune spoke to Games Radar bringing the first batch of full-size screens to the web.

The team felt WiiWare would be the perfect platform to take the franchise back to its roots, with fears the series had drifted away from pure platform jumping, robot wrecking action the opening three or four had established.

From the portal-inspired Galaxy Man to the bee filled Hornet Man, the fire-filled Magma Man to the womanly charms of Splash Woman, the robot masters return to do some intense damage, and if Games Radar are to be believed, it's as hard as ever!

Wow it really does look like the NES games.

Hope it's as good as them.

The only thing I've heard/read that I don't like is that the Mega-buster and the slide aren't currently in the game, and may not be at all.

I realize that neither were in the first two games, but they were great ideas and seem like a staple of the series to me. At least Rush is in it.

Well, to be honsetly, i think all the megaman games are crappy... dont take it too personally.

What I don't get is why Megaman 2 2 is a good thing. Shouldn't it actually be Megaman 9? It's like with Street Fighter IV, back steps may not always be good.

It looks better than a NES game, I doubt this will have any of the flicker problems and slow down of old.

Awesome news, it had better be hard just like the early games.

Looks just like the NES ones. Awesome!

Now this brings back memories.

Megaman 9 is not an old game. It's a new game made to look and play like the old games.
