18.11: THE END. Thanks for reading.
18.10: Nintendo are going to keep us smiling, possibly by giving us the same drugs Cammie used to keep her smiling. Anyway, that's the end of it. We're not massively impressed, no big suprises and not much wow factor, and only a couple of graphs. We'll be bringing you all the media and full details from the games and tech announced by Nintendo at the conference. Keep your eyes locked on the C3 News page over the next twenty minutes or so.
18.09: Paradigm shift count FOUR, from Reggie. Fad is no longer applicable, apparently. C3 Mike: "can I say that this is possibly worse than last year's conference?" Yes, you can Mike.
18.08: Nintendo brings more smiles to more faces. ARGH, that's horrible. And Cammie is STILL smiling, please stop it dear...
18.06: Reggie and Cammie are re-capping the conference for us...just in case we'd forgotten. Snowboarding on Wii, WiiSpeak to talk to people. WiiMotion plus and also we're reminded that gaming and Nintendo rock.
18.05: Team Nintendo are playing us a nice song, the Super Mario Bros Theme...just about. We've got a funny feeling this might be how the conference ends...
18.02: You can make your own music video and combine instruments together with up to four players.
18.01: We've seen drums, sax, piano, violin and now guitar. C3 Mike has a good point "that sounds a bit too easy and simplistic, I hope there's a 'harder' version of it too" What do you think?
17.59: All you have to do is move around like you are playing the instrument and the Wii makes the music happen. Shigsy can't play the sax at all, he was simply pressing buttons to a timing of his preference and the Wii makes it sound awesome based on his button pressing and his movements. Clever stuff.
17.58: If you want something that everyone can enjoy in the living room, regardless of age and gender, than music is a must. Wii Music was designed alonside Wii Sports, Wii Play and Wii Fit. Most music games require you to match buttons and timing on screen, but Wii Music is different. Nintendo have designed Wii Music to allow everyone and anyone to experience the joy of playing and performing music.
17.57: Shigsy is here! A full on demonstration of Wii Music from the great man. Some awesome jazz-loving...very nice.
17.56: Drums! Some guy is playing drums on the Wii using the remote and the nunchuck. We'll get to play it this summer and it'll work without the stupid new Wii-mote attachment. He's using the balance board for pedals too.
17.54: Wii Sports Resort launching globally next spring. Bit of a long wait...
17.52: And that other beach resort activity...sword fighting. Odd, but cool nonetheless. Hazukisan from the C3 forums says: "This is what should've been happening from day 1" We kind of agree, Wii Motion Plus is what Nintendo should've been offering from day one.
17.50: Reggie is jet-skiing and it looks pretty cool. Wii Remote with new attachment and the nun-chuck plugged in to steer a jet-ski around a course.
17.49: We're going to play Disk Dog with Bill and Cammie. Yay! Oh yes, they're playing frisbee. The new Wii-remote tech looks really impressive.
17.48: New Wii title announced: Wii Sports Resort! The new Wii-mote thingy will come packaged with the game and you'll be able to buy more separately.
17.47: We're now getting to see WiiMotion Plus. Reggie pauses for applause after showing it...nobody does. He explains how it works by adding more functionality to the Wii Remote .
17.46: The DS is a companion for everyone...aint that nice. We're now back to Reggie and a 'fresh set of eyes'.
17.45: You can now use your DS to get information at airports...well, it is at least being tested. She's also talking about using the DS at baseball games, which Nintendo have been testing for a while.
17.43: Pokemon Rangers: Shadows of Word We Missed announced for year end AND Grand Theft Auto: China Town Wars, set in a modern day liberty city with a custom game engine and new characters and the same free roaming gameplay we've all come to expect. Great news that!
17.42: Spore on Nintendo DS...again, nothing new. We're getting an in-depth look at it nonetheless. This seems to be a chance for developers to say how great the DS is. Again, we get some muted applause.
17.41: We're now looking at Guitar Hero on Tour for the DS...in depth.
17.40: She really seems to be struggling to keep up her constant smiling expression. Her face must be hurting.
17.39: Cammie starts talking about pie...mmmm. We're now onto that other 'piece of the pie', the DS.
17.38: And finally, Call of Duty World at War. How surprising. The crowd gets bored and only just remembers to applaud. No 'woops' here folks.
17.37: Rayman Raving Rabbids: TV Party. No, we're not being mean and lying to you, that is genuinely what we're seeing in front of our very eyes.
17.36: 3 new games that take different approaches to Wii. First up, Star Wars: The Clone Wars. W00t, etc.
17.35: Are we going to get bored by crap thid party casual games? Or exciting new twists on old names? Or is it going to be new IPs? Guess what, the answer is ALL of the above. We know Reggie, the Wii is very good. Quick question: has Reggie put on weight?
17.33: Oh Reggie you little cock tease. ANOTHER graph, this time for software. And guess what? Nintendo did awesome...
17.30: Oh hells yeah! We've got graphs people, frigging graphs! The C3 E3 Chat (see the left menu) is now talking about the female anatomy. C3 Mike demands: "you can give us a Pokemon Wii RPG if you want Reggie"
17.30: Half an hour gone and things are picking up. We'll see Animal Crossing on Wii before the end of the year with the WiiSpeak option thrown in for good measure. Reggie moves on to talk numbers...many many numbers.
17.29: Morning Reggie!
17.28: All about players creating their own world. Sounds very promising indeed. NOW we smell Reggie.
17.27: C3's Adam Riley: "looks lame"
17.26: Wii Speak! It is a community microphone that allows for any room of people to talk to any other room of people in the world. So it isn't attached to your head. It looks great!
17.24: We're seeing some nice new footage of the Wii version. Even when you're not playing the game keeps on going without you. It looks great and we're getting some fantastic music. The town returns and there is a new area, the city! You can go around the city and play with loads of cool games and cool people. It looks really busy and exciting. Basically it is Animal Crossing on crack gone a little bit crazy.
17.23: Bad nose. Well, we knew we smelt something good...Animal Crossing on Wii!
17.22: We smell Reggie...
17.21: So what's next? Iwata says Nintendo need to find new ways for players to be engaged, even with interactions we would not call games. The experience from Nintendo's products must be increased enthusiasm. Apparently it is much easier to say than it is to do. Well then Nintendo, SHOW SOMETHING.
17.17: Nintendo are explaining why they are awesome...lots. C3 Mike: I can recite this stuff in my sleep they go on about it that much.
17.16: Titles like Brain Age represent a brand new direction for gaming. People are no longer just looking for awesome graphics, they want something different. He is aware that we demand increasingly pretty games and Nintendo continue to try and meet these demands. Games with new concepts like Wii Sport and Wii Fit have been received well by the public. Small teams with small budgets can capture worldwide audiences if they have a good idea. He's basically listing lots of stuff...
17.14: Paradigm shift mention the first from Iwata. He's talking about his first time addressing the journalists at E3. People were pessimistic back then and the period was not enjoyable for Nintendo. Iwata says he must admit that even Nintendo employees could not have imagined that just five years later the Wii would be doing so well. He makes a HILARIOUS joke about bathroom scales. Paradigm shift mention the second. "Today I'd like to spend a few minutes to discuss what has really changed in this new paradigm". We're going to have a bit of a nap...
17.13: All of you can have lots of fun playing it on Wii by year end. We should now all welcome Satoru Iwata, which is nice of us...
17.12: Now Cammie Dunaway is having a go. This really couldn't get much more awkward if it tried. She's wearing a suit and being told what to do by a guy who's hair is bigger than her's...
17.10: Snowboaring using the Wii Balance Board from Ubi demonstrated by Shaun White. They're talking about snowboarding and technique and stuff which is a little dull. C3 Adam: WTF, where's 1080??
17.08: She broke her wrist snowboarding...
17.07: Yay, a Nintendo suit. She calls herself Cammie and she's the VP of something or other at NoA...and yes female. This sure aint Reggie. Nintendo have gone all personal on us, she's talking about her family and videogames and stuff. Exciting...
17.06: Oooh, we've got lifestyle footage of lots of people smiling at Nintendo products and feel good music. Something is surely about to happen. C3 Mike says: Animal Crossing or I cry tonight guys.
17.04: C3's Adam Riley: This dance music's crap...enough with it already, start the damn conference!!
17.00 BST: Here we go folks, it all kicks off here. The C3 Team are raving away to the pumping dance music from the conference hall right now...not much to report. The music is getting a tad annoying...

noneYes it was an awful conference from Nintendo. E3 has really become a snore fest. The only thing that is saving it is the announcement that Final Fantasy XII is coming to the Xbox 360. Sony needs to have something entertaining to save E3. If not then this is the worst E3 ever.

Mr. TBah, you'd think I'd be doing something, but Nintendo have seemingly neglected to release any assets. They're probably all sitting in a room congratulating each other on how awesome they are and or trying to crow-bar Cammie's mouth so she stops smiling.

For me, the announcement that FFXIII is coming to 360 was one of the least surprising things I've heard from E3 so far

PsionicI'll put it to you this way - it wasn't there best, that's for sure. That title belongs to E3 06, imo. Anyways, I don't think they're done yet, though. They (as in Reggie and Miss-Botox-gone-wrong) were dropping quite a few hints as to upcoming announcements, and other such things.
Plus, in recent years, Nintendo have been revealing less and less at E3, but instead holding their own conferences around September/October which have proved much more informing. Hopefully that's the case this year.
But honestly, they could have done anything they wanted to here. They could have said, "Hey, we're selling like hot cakes right now" and you give us absolutely no new information and walked right off the stage. Let's face it, their E3 presentation won't have a substantial effect on their sales/success. Even if it was almost as bad as GIANT ENEMY CRABS.

noneThat was a terrible conference. Where were the games. Where was that hardcore announcement promised by reggie. I dont care about wii music or animal crossing. Whats the point of announcing that wii motion plus thing if you havent got a line up to fully demonstrate it. This conference was really embarrassing. If this was an expo aimed at the casual every ones mums they would have pulled out all the stops.

none"Oh my gawd!! massive phail 0/10!!!!! boreful man awwwwwww"
That's what you all sound like.
Animal Crossing seems like it could be done on the DS. Which I would like better because tying me down to a TV-set is not going to make me purchase Animal Crossing 1.1.
I kind of enjoyed the bathroom scales joke though.
"You mean you have to use your hands??"
"That's like a baby's toy!"

noneHow did the bathroom scales joke go? I can't be arsed sitting through a press conference of an hour just to hear the funny and realising I just wasted another half hour of my life.
