E308 Media | Wii Sports Resort Coming to Wii

By Adam Riley 15.07.2008 14

Nintendo has just revealed Wii Sports Resort for Wii, which is due for release in Spring 2009. Following on from the success of Wii Sports, Nintendo is set to use its newly unveiled Wii MotionPlus accessory for 1:1 motion in various new games, such as Disc Dog (where the player throws a frisbee like in nintendogs), a version of WaveRace and a mini-game that lets gamers engage in Sword Duelling.

The game will come bundled with an extended Wii Remote Jacket and the MotionPlus device, both of which will also be sold separately. As Reggie himself says, lots of Third Parties are contemplating how best to use Wii MotionPlus. Obviously nothing will be coming just yet, but expect something 'soon'.

The Wii MotionPlus accessory, which is included with Wii Sports Resort, plugs into the base of the Wii Remote controller and, combined with the accelerometer and sensor bar, provides an experience that gives players an even greater sense of immersion.

Wii Sports Resort takes place on a tropical island. A wide range of activities will keep players coming back for one more round. Some sample activities include Sword Play, Power Cruising (racing a water scooter) and Disc Dog, which involves accurately tossing a disc to a cute, Mii-like dog.

So...what do Nintendo only have one big game this year left? AC?

The Sword Duelling looks promising, and the Disc Dog mechanics could be applied to other games (throwing a boomerang etc.)

I'd rather go down the beach Smilie

Trying to think of a witty signature after 'Hacker-gate'...

That's about the size of it, unless they have other stuff they've just refused to mention. Which is likely.

It looks pretty good, I'm looking forward to see what other games modes are in there!

Regie said that both the teams that make Zelda & Mario games are busy working on new games so 2009/10 Smilie will be awsome! Shame about 2008... I think they will reveal some more games tomorrow hopefully!

I see all these people insulting the Nintendo corporation because of the lack of mature content. Yet there is something about Nintendo (at least their games) that strikes a certain unadulterated feeling of joy!!!  Pokemon Y - 1048-9263-5562

Because plenty of games on wifi connection are pretty smooth, it's the interface that sucks.

If you stop to think about pastimes associated with a summer vacation, several of the things that spring to mind will be included in Wii Sports Resort, so said 'The Reggienator'.

Furtive exposure of your white bits in the sand anyone? Perhaps there'll be some bottle throwing game where you have to keep the Germans from nabbing the sunbeds. Or how about the smell of drains in Benidorm? Now that's an accessory to think about.

Less posty, more gamey.

Now this looks interesting. That demo kind of blew me away. Especially the the disc throwing. It detected every single one of her motions. When she moved and rotated her arm, man this looks awesome.

Now the only downside is purchasing yet another bloody peripheral...

The sword game looks sweet Smilie It'd be hard to beat the computer at that, though.

I don't really mind a new add-on at all for new and fun games, it's not as if it's gonna make a massive hole in someone's pocket.

Can brawl anytime now.....if you want an easy win
