E308 | Nintendo to Unveil Secrets at Special Press Conference?

on 16.07.2008 at 14:20 User Icon Posted by Adam Riley (jesusraz)
Tag Tags: Nintendo, Secret Conference, E3
Whilst people may have come away from Nintendo's conference yesterday somewhat disillusioned, the company could have one or two Aces up its sleeve. It seems that Nintendo may well be holding a private Press Only conference later today in which more secrets will be revealed, just as was the case when Super Smash Bros. Brawl was initially unleashed behind closed doors.

Will this be where Kid Icarus, the new Zelda and Pikmin 3 will be shown? Who knows, but it is time to start speculating once again it seems!

It would save face, but they won't do it.

Don't you see? They think they've done GOOD.

Last years e3 was the same as this wasnt it? Not really what people there wanted to see but Nintendo did it anyway (wiifit and such). I would guess announcements about the non-casual games will be left to other times than e3.

Last year's E3 had Mario Kart which actually looked good, and a little Smash snippet.

All they really need to do is announce one proper core game (preferably for a holiday release) and people will be relatively content, like last year. They really should have announced Pikmin and Icarus though. Hopefully they will announce one of these today...

Im thinking perhaps Reggie and co are starting to see the core gamer as a whole, this is incorrect, I like titles like GTA and Animal Crossing too, but lets be fair, when a Nintendo fan talks about 'hardcore' they mean either Mario, Zelda, maybe Final Fantasy, the up and coming ChronoTrigger, a new 3D effect for a new StarFox shooter, or mainly a new way to play a video game, that actually works so well its copied to a standard.
I have big hopes for the MotionPlus.
As for Animal Crossing, why I believe its wrong to call it a core game is because to veteran Nintendo fans, a game that started life on the GameCube is fairly recent, and at a time when Nintendo were adament online play wasnt neccesary, it makes me wonder who their core gamer is, is it the fresher Nintendo fan, or the seasoned fan?
Because it seems to me we're in seperate catergories.
As for GTA, this is Microsoft and Sony's core gamer, not Nintendos man!
Remember how Wii still outsold those guys when this so called lifeline was released?
Seems to me Nintendo is raping its competitors for fans and keeping its newly acquired fans happy while the people who made them are still waiting for more Mario Galaxy kinda magic. I remember a time when every major release from the nintendo felt like that.
Maybe Nintendos started to spread itself thinly to acquire the taste of many, however the quality is still there and always will be, thats why the continue to exist.
Either way, I would happily sacrifice my selfish desire to feel like a fresh faced youth again (Kudos- Mario Galaxy) to see Nintendo stay on top another generation or two, so we can see the evolution of Wii and the revolution after that.

Don't they understand the point of E3's big conferences. That's where big announcements are supposed to be made.

Well nintendo had me believeing once again cause of Miyamoto. Smilie He is seriously the coolest guy in the world. And maybe...just maybe, we will see something new from Nintendo. Nintendo really made a mistake yesterday, and if they fix it up, hopefully many people will begin believing again.
