NPD data has revealed that after months of tagging closely to Microsoft's Xbox 360, Nintendo's Wii has snuck past to emerge as No. 1 US home console.
Independent sales tracking information revealed that as of June 2008 approximately 10.9 million Wii consoles had been sold since its release back in November 2006. Despite the 360 meeting the 10-million mark first this generation, it seems that the Wii has finally overtaken the console's dominance in the US with some staggering sales during the last quarter or so.
NPD figures, courtesy to NeoGAF reveal yet another combined million seller between the Wii and DS, with Sony's PlayStation 3 jogging along at a decent pace behind them. The DS itself has already had its time in the limelight, after previously cruising past the 20-million mark.
