SouthPeak has revealed it will be bringing developer SpiderMonk's Xbox Live Arcade and PC puzzler Roogoo to the Wii and Nintendo DS in 2008, featuring new levels, new modes, and cross-compatibility between the handheld and console. The game was initially talked about back in February, but now the first firm details have arisen, with SouthPeak stating "players are tasked with guiding meteors in the form of shaped blocks though a series of rotating disks as a means of saving planet Roo and the entire Roogoo race. If aligned correctly, the disks allow the blocks to reach the ground and scores are awarded."
Released in June for the Xbox Live Arcade download service, as well as PC, Roogoo featured more than forty-give puzzle levels with both single and two-player multiplayer modes, as well as separate "party game" modes.
The new Wii edition will make great use of the unique motion sensitive controls for up to four players in new adversarial, co-operative and party play modes, whilst the Nintendo DS iteration will use the touchscreen for control and comes with new levels, backgrounds and unique puzzle shapes. Both Wii and DS editions will link-up as well, with players able to use the DS as a controller for the Wii game.
For reference, developer SpiderMonk's back catalogue includes mobile phone games like NBC Sports National Heads-UP Poker and a conversion of boxing title Ready2Rumble.

"Roogoo is a perfect fit for Nintendo gamers. It's a great family-friendly puzzler with fantastic gameplay that can take advantage of the unique offering of these two systems. We're very excited about making Roogoo part of the Nintendo lineup later this year."
