Yu-Gi-Oh coming to Wii as...a Racer?

By Shane Jury 19.07.2008 18

Recently Konami confirmed that one of their successful batch of Yu-Gi-Oh games will be making an appearance on Wii, but as something slightly different.

According to Siliconera, a Konami representative, after confirming the title's existence, simply said 'think racing'.

The game is reportedly based on the new Yu-Gi-Oh 5D's anime series, where characters duel with cards on Motorcycles, so it seems plausible that the Racing remark ties to that, and not some Mario Kart clone.
Then again, Wii is getting a Castlevania Fighting game from the same company, so who knows...

Sif, Speed Freaks was gold. Truth is, with kart games you never know until you try try them.

Wow they'll do anything to try and keep things fresh.
The show sounds like a bad idea, and I can't imagine the game being any better.

Both the show and the game get a massive WTF from me.

I will second that...

That depends on your difinition of interest Smilie

Then again bad interest is better than no interest ( does that even make sense Smilie ).

Yu-Gi-Oh games stopped being good years ago. They should stop.

If anyone is wondering, here are the rules of these "Turbo Duels" as the crap-tastic 4Kids dub will call them.

1) Both players activate the Field Spell Card "Speed World" before the duel begins.

2) Except on the first turn, both players receive 1 Speed Counter during EVERY Standby Phase (including their opponent's). The maximum is 12 counters. (In the anime, the motorcycle's speed is determined by how many Speed Counters you have.)

3) If a player takes Battle Damage, they lose 1 Speed Counter for every 1000 points of Battle Damage they received. Different instances of Battle Damage during the Battle Phase are not cumulative (2100 points and then 900 points will not be added together, so you only lose 2 counters).

4) If a player activates a Spell Card that does not have "Speed Spell" in its name, that player takes 2000 points of damage (Speed Counters are not lost for effect damage).

Personally, I think this'll be pretty sweet if they can throw other elements into the gameplay besides dueling. Obstacles and such. Talk about multi-tasking! Try summoning a monster while trying to dodge a rock or something.

The only thing that makes anyone third rate is their attitude, not their skill.
