The original Mega Man is due to shoot, jump and take on the best Robot Masters this week on Virtual Console.

According to Nintendo Everything, the game that started it all is due to slip onto the service this week, to prepare fans for the much-anticipated Mega Man 9 release in September.

The Capcom Unity blog reveals that "The orginal Mega Man game returns on the Virtual Console this Monday, August 4, 2008. Yes, that’s right. Brush up on your old school skills and prepare for some cool contests we have in store. We also plan to re-release Mega Man 2 in early September as well."

First appearing on the NES in 1987, we saw the blue wonder leaping into action going from level to level, taking down the Robot Masters and borrowing their abilities.

Since January I think, we have had both for a while.

If you are going to get 9 spending a 1000 on both games is well worth the expense also. Mega Man 1 is one of the toughest games on the NES.

OMG. It's about damn time, Capcom. Sheesh. Now where's the rest of 'em? And I want X 1-3! Smilie

You lucky guys have had the first two entries to the series for some time now. I hate you. Smilie jk What the hell took Capcom so long to release them here in the States? Smilie

Wait a sec... this announcement was for the U.S. VC release for 8/4, right? I just went home for my lunch break to download this awesome classic, but it wasn't released today. What happened? Did I misread the news? I need my Megaman fix! lol Smilie

And where's Samurai Showdown 2? I did download the Master System version of Sonic the Hedgehog, though. And it's awesome! I had no idea there was a MS version. Talk about surprised. lol

@Linkyshinks:
Are you saying what I think your saying? Ninty didn't drop it at the last second because it's a graphic game, did they? After it was announced?! Oh, man. I hope it just got pushed back... *chews fingers* Smilie
