Europe Finally Gets Chrono Trigger...on Nintendo DS!

By Adam Riley 06.08.2008 13

Square Enix has today announced that CHRONO TRIGGER will be released across PAL territories in early 2009 exclusively on the Nintendo DS.

They say that "time is money" but for our hero, Crono, it is much more than that! Get ready to travel through time to avoid the destruction of the world as we know it. With CHRONO TRIGGER, your notion of time will be turned upside down as you race against it like you've never done before, while all the decisions you make along the way will affect past, present and future!

Originally released in 1995 for the Super NES, CHRONO TRIGGER is regarded as a classic that was sadly never released in the PAL territories. We may not have a time machine to rectify the past, but thankfully CHRONO TRIGGER is about to change history. This all-new edition of CHRONO TRIGGER contains all the classic essence of the original while introducing the portability, dual-screen presentation and Touch-Screen functionality of the Nintendo DS.

"It gives me great pleasure to see CHRONO TRIGGER being released in Europe and the PAL territories. With its ground breaking story and gameplay, this epic RPG with multiple endings has already won the hearts of many fans and I hope it delights a whole new audience of players into revisiting the CHRONO TRIGGER world time and again."
- John Yamamoto, president and chief executive officer of Square Enix Ltd.

Considering Square Enix was harping on about making new releases simultaneous on a worldwide basis, it seems unusual for Chrono Trigger DS to come in 2009 when the US and Japan are getting it at the end of this year...

Yay!

Well ONM gave the game away in its latest issue, putting the date down as Spring 2009...But hey, better than nothing! Can't wait to play it on DS rather than an emulator Smilie

I felt that I got really near the end in chrono trigger but was proved wrong a few times before that. I didn\'t even realise it had different endings.

It was a long time ago so I can\'t remember much but...

I think I was at a big machine having killed some lord. I\'d had the airship for some time and been to the netherworld/time place a little while ago.

Can anyone tell me how approx far I got without me having to go gamefaqs and see loads of spoilers because if I didn\'t that far I might buy this.

well i cant wait for this so i think i end up inporting the usa one but good news none the less

Well I\'m just not cool enough to have this game in an illegal manner, so I guess I\'ll just have to be a chump and buy the upgraded version.

Actually it's way cooler to game legally.

Only for the niche factor...

I'd have to disagree superlink.

All piracy is better than paying imo. Not for me, better for everyone in the world.

I didn\'t pirate them a friends cousin had em and he got from who knows where.... I guess I should game legally but I wouldn\'t be playing Crono Trigger if it wasn\'t for him so I\'m not going to let it sit around without playing it.... Thought I could share some joy. And trust me tho\'s guys dont need any more money from that game.
