Three New Captain Rainbow Trailers, Famitsu Gives Rating

By Shane Jury 28.08.2008 13

Upon its release in Japan today, Famitsu have given Skip's Captain Rainbow a respectable score. Also, three new trailers of the game have been released.

According to the folks at Neogaf, the game received 8, 8,7, 8, for a total of 31/40.

The Famitsu cross-review in a nutshell : really great, funny characters and writing. The characters in particular are really expressive, and seem to all be living their own life withing the game (also thanks to the day/night cycle). Pretty enjoyable gameplay, good tempo. Humor is often indecent. Seems like the music is pretty good too. Overall, it would seem like they all really liked it, including the "7" guy.

The following Trailer has Lip, from Panel de Pon in Japan (what we know as either Tetris Attack or Puzzle League over here).

These next two have Mappo, a character from GiFTPiA, a Gamecube game that never made it out of Japan;

why does Mike look absolutely nothing like himself?

Ah whoops, my mistake, it's someone else. Hold on, I'll fix it.

That's not Mike, it's from GiFTPiA.

I'm starting to see a few characters I can recognise. Am I the only one who really wants this to come out here? Smilie

Hopefully Nintendo doesn't mess around with this like it did with GiFTPiA. This definitely HAS to come out in the West...

Right, it sounds like one of the main reasons they made it was to raise awareness of these obscure characters and series'. Perhaps with hopes of making sequels possible? All I know is that if you wanna raise something's popularity the west is a good place to try.

Sad thing is that most of the characters are featured in games that have never even made it to the West. Tracey, Birdo and the guy from Punch-Out might be enough, though. Shame Wart doesn't seem to make an appearance!

Didn't Tetris Attack ever make it here? Or was Lip omitted?

I'm sure Nintendo fans would show their support. I can see Lip or Takamaru fans buying it just to support their inclusion in the next Smash Bros.

Panel de Pon was changed to Tetris Attack, with all original characters replaced by those from the Yoshi's Island world...and then Pokmon took over, before Nintendo started with the plain, character-less Puzzle League entries.

Lame. If you're going to have character-less ones, you may aswell put the cast of Panel de Pon in, it wouldn't do any harm. D:

Id give the odds 50/50.
Its being sold as a funny game in its own right, its not going to sale because of the charecters in it. (Unlike Smash Bros, which has the charecters as a saleing point).

I dont see it being dismissed because people wont know the charecters.
It might more get dismissed because its a quirky game,and they sometimes dont sale too good here.

Last update; Mice,Plumbers,Animatronics and Airbenders. We also have the socials; Facebook & G+

It seems to be getting more of a push than other recent Nintendo releases. All these new trailers must be doing something for its reputation...

But let\'s be honest here... Chibi-Robo Park Patrol is showing no sign of being released in Europe, what chance do we have for this one? ;-;

I'm up for a totally unique and whacky game, this is perfect for that.
