Phantasy Star Returns Online with DS

Posted by By (jb) 4 Number of reads 34143

Announced in this week's edition of Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu, Phantasy Star Zero sees players embarking on a new journey to slash and shoot their way through hordes of enemies and go head to head with some fierce-looking boss creatures.

Some famous names are onboard, with Toshiyuki Kubooka crafting character designs and mystery novel writer Teru Arai aiding former series writer Tooru Shiwasu in forging a new story.

The report confirms four-player online features over Nintendo's Wi-Fi connection, and although details remain sketchy, it's likely to be an all-out co-operative blast. Chatting is present, and interestingly enough allows for sketches to be drawn and sent via touch screen.

In the meantime, here's a gorgeous scan to satisfy PSO cravings:

Personaly, I prefer online multiplayer RPGs to MMORPGs.
A squad of friends is much more interesting then 10,000 strangers.
Plus, the game can be made far more interesting when the developer dosnt have to worry about having everything playable all at once, and resetable.

Story progression is easier, for instance.

This game will succeed/fail on how easy it is to get a group of friends and play together.
A good, usable, lobby system is needed.
