First FFCC: Echoes of Time Wii / DS Video

By Jorge Ba-oh 02.10.2008 13

Square Enix has added yet another title to the FFCC series - Echoes of Time for Wii and DS first video inside.

Revealed in Famitsu earlier this week, and described as the sequel to the fantastic Rings of Fate (also for DS), the game sets out to take multiplayer to an all new level of connectivity. The DS version seems to look and feel like the original players can select their class of character and venture around dungeons with others wirelessly.

But wait, it's also on the Wii? Indeedy. Echoes of Time will be released simultaneously on both the Wii and DS, with players seeing both screens on their telly for the Wii version, and as normal on the DS.

Wii players can grab their remote and essentially play alongside the DS owners, in a mix and match super-connectivity way dubbed "Pollux Engine" the DS version also has the benefit of being able to import Miis, for some fairly disturbing looking characters. Penis-heads and Mr T in Final Fantasy? We're there!

Agree!

Does look mighty fine for DS, and a decent setup on the Wii too. Should defo see more people playing and co-op-ing!

I'll watch this when I get home, but for now the concept of this game really confuses me. Is it just a gimmick or does it have a point in the FFCC story? And would you need to buy both versions for the full experience? :/

Either version - they're both the same lol - for Wii owners without a DS to play, and connect with one another.

My mum told me Crystal Bearers has gone to live with a nice family on a farm in the country. Smilie

It looks pretty good tbh, I'll have to keep an eye on this!!

BTW don't you love the way Japanese people say WIRELESS!! Smilie

I see all these people insulting the Nintendo corporation because of the lack of mature content. Yet there is something about Nintendo (at least their games) that strikes a certain unadulterated feeling of joy!!!  Pokemon Y - 1048-9263-5562

Just saw the trailer. Gotta say, not overwhelmed. The Wii version looks like a cash-in, although it looks sharper than the DS game, but not by much.

Until I see more, I'm gonna be saying it looks like an expansion pack to Ring of Fates, same games with more areas, because that's what it looks like atm.

Not to say I won't be getting it, but I'm a huge FFCC fan.

For so long now people have being crying out for such interconnectivity with Wii, so from that standpoint this game is excellent.

But what interconnectivity is that exactly? I still don\'t get it... isn\'t it just the same game, but there\'s a Wii version for people without a DS? Smilie

Loving the music, as usual.

Why does the Wii version look the same as the DS? Smilie

Looks great on the DS though and I love this idea of interconnectivity, should be quite interesting to see how it works out.

Unless it's longer than the other FFCC DS, i'm not buying. Paying more for these games than other DS games just cuz it's a final fantasy is travesty, especially when I can beat these in 5 or 6 hours

Didn't early reports say that this game would be the first to allow Wii and DS owners to play online in the same game together? Was that cleared up?Smilie

Since when was it more than other DS games? Infact for quite a while I've seen it for about 10 less than most DS games...

Not to mention FFCC has great replay value anyway, especially with the CoOp.
