    Nintendo have confirmed that Play On Wii, GameCube conversions, will also be available in Europe.

    The Play On Wii scheme, announced during Nintendo's Fall Conference in Japan, sees a handful of GameCube titles being directly ported, or re-released, onto Wii for those who were unable to play or get hold of a copy. Pikmin and Donkey Kong: Jungle Beat have been confirmed for re-release in the land of the Golden Sun.

    Speaking to N-Europe earlier today, the company confirmed that the range will also come to Europe, but as per usual it's "too early to announce or discuss specific details at this time."

    Update

    According to Videogamer.com, 5 other titles will be joining Pikmin and Jungle Beat;

    -Chibi Robo
    -Pikmin 2
    -Mario Tennis
    -Metroid Prime
    -Metroid Prime 2 Echoes

    It has also been confirmed that each of the games will be reworked to make best use of the Wii controller.

    Demo trailers of Pikmin and DK: Jungle Beat on the Wii, minus sound for the trailers;

    It\'s great that some new to Nintendo will get a chance to play some of these great GC games.

    It wont lessen the value of my originals if they have a typical players choice style case case.

    EDIT:

    http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=13041328&postcount=2372

    Apparently, Pikmin 2, Metroid Prime 1 & 2, and Mario Tennis are scheduled for remakes as well.

    Yeah thats what I was thinking, if they are updating the grafixx that would be good, but if they are just releasing the same game on GC discs then I reckon its pretty pointless!!

    Not completely pointless, as some games are hard to get hold of.

    Pikmin 1 is all over the place for €15 or less. Pikmin 2 on the other hand is almost impossible to get.

    Depends on what games. I would like to play GC games with a GC controller. I just hope it's made obvious that they're OLD so as not to confuse "simple minded gamers"

    They should bundle titles together on single Wii DVD discs, for example MP1 and 2 could easily fit, Pikmin 1 and 2 etc etc.

    Oh, is this what the great guys at Retro Studios have been doing since MP3? Remake MP1 and 2?? I feel sorry if that\'s true... No wonder those 3 left. They\'ve been working on Metroid for at least 7 years now.

    I really cant imagine it taking much time to recompile a game and add/copy the wiicontrol code from corruption.
    7 or so people at most I\'d say.

    None of that would involve anyone from the concept art, modeling or music production areas anyway.
    So I really dought its a reason anyone left.

    \"i recon they should be budget titles though, \"

    They are.

    Actually I don't know what to make of this news, I mean it is cool to be able to play games such as Metroid and Pikmin with the Wii controller, but I feel Nintendo is going to use this as an excuse to pump out less games.

    I think this is a great idea to re-release GC games on the Wii. The Wii is a massive success and it will enable all the people that missed out on the GC's top games to experience them on the Wii. Perhaps games like Mario's Dance Dance Revolution would be bigger successes on the Wii.

    Perhaps bring Donkey Konga 3 out!

    But I am weary like other people - hopefully Nintendo won't use this as an excuse to pump out less proper Wii games. After all, many hardcore Nintendo fans have played these GC classics on their GCs and wouldn't need them on Wii.
