EA Reviving Syndicate for the New Generation?

By Adam Riley 18.10.2008 1

Following the resurrection of Bullfrog's Theme Park and Populous on the Nintendo DS, could Syndicate be next in line? A new rumour has emerged regarding one of Peter Molyneux's former Intellectual Properties whilst at the previously EA-owned, and now dissolved UK outfit, Bullfrog.

So far we have seen EA have considerable success with the SimCity franchise on the Nintendo DS, which led the company to start tapping into other games in its back catalogue, namely those from the Bullfrog era, with both Theme Park and Populous proving to be popular amongst fans. The former still pops its head up in the UK DS Top 50 from time to time, whilst the latter is set to finally be brought over to Europe by Rising Star Games early next year.

The original Syndicate - could it be making a comeback?

But could Syndicate be next on the cards? Well, according to this latest rumour the answer is 'yes', although no platform has been hinted at so far. Considering Syndicate made its way onto even the humble SNES (to great critical acclaim), no doubt the DS would be able to handle the title easily and would definitely benefit from the touch-screen controls. However, a full-blown home console version definitely cannot be ruled out, either.

Would you like to see Syndicate on DS or Wii? And what other Bullfrog games should be dragged into the new generation - Dungeon Keeper, perhaps?

Dungeon Keeper is one of my favorite games. I hope they resurrect it.
