More Screens of Resident Evil Remake on Wii on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

Capcom has already seen success with Resident Evil 0 on Wii, but can the same come from Resident Evil's remake on Wii? Many scoffed at the idea of the previously GameCube-exclusive Resident Evil 0 heading to Wii practically untouched, complete with hardly any advertising push from Capcom's Japanese office. Even Capcom USA turned down the chance to bring it to the US due to the backlash from Western gamers who already had the GameCube original.

However, despite slinking out onto the market without much fanfare, the 50,000 of the faithful fanbase snapped up the game and has spurred the Japanese office to greenlight a slightly tweaked version of the GameCube's remake of the very first Resident Evil, with the game due for release on 25th December in Japan, and once again with no Western release being considered at the moment.

Time will tell as to whether or not the move pays off again, but for now be sure to check out some fresh screens in the media folder below...

I watched this trailer a couple of days ago. Don't understand why they need to re-release a remake.

I would understand if it was a remake but in the style of the RE4, over the shoulder view, then I think that would be worth of a remake.

What needs to be remembered is that a large proportion of the Wii ownership either hasn't ever played a GC before, or doesn't even know the Wii is backwards compatible.

Why do you think Nintendo's doing the 'Play on Wii' series?

This game still looks 'good'.

The character polygon count looks very high, but theres a basic lack of next gen effects thats really make the graphics look realistic.

At the moment it all looks very smooth and well formed.

But still, a port of a gamecube remake of a PS1 game....

Still lazy, the price should be no more than £20 for these kinds of remakes and they shouldn\'t be used as part of a line up.

I don\'t mind them being there but they shoudn\'t pretend like it\'s somthing to get excited about.

I don't see the problem too much either.

The GC really wasn't as popular as PS2 or Xbox. The Wii is a massive success and Capcom are doing the right thing because they want so many people to experience REmake. Most of them never owned a GC.

If I made a game which could sell more on another console and reach new and more gamers, I'd release it again on the Wii too.

You can't blame them for not making a trailer either. Again, many people missed out on or didn't know much about REmake's existence, so it's only natural to get the word out that this lovely looking game is coming to Wii.

I'm sure, and I hope, that REmake sells very well on the Wii. It might seem a bit lazy, but Nintendo and Capcom are doing the right thing be re-releasing GC games on the Wii.

Admittedly though, the price shouldn't be too high.

IF it was 480p 16:9 then I would consider it as a purchase. But I already own the Gamecube version and this seems to be pretty much the same.

That is what it will take for me to buy one of these. But Capcom has found a way to make some $$$, so more power to them.

So they can milk franchises as usual, and don't have to bother making new games?

No, so they can make more money, expand the RE fanbase on Wii and then make something else - a full remake of RE2 (as rumoured), a new Umbrella Chronicles (also rumoured) or a Wii version of RE5.

Test 1 - RE4: Wii Edition
Test 2 - RE: The Umbrella Chronicles
Test 3 - RE0 ported Wii
Test 4 - RE Remake ported to Wii

So far the first three tests have proved successes and considering a little more effort is going into changing the controls of 'Test 4' that should be a relative success as well. All this gives Capcom the confidence to create more in the RE franchise for Wii...and this is backed up by the recent comments of RE5's Producer, who said there are plans for more RE on Wii.

Thing is, we shouldn't be having more of these bloomin 'tests' at all, the first two Resi Wii games selling over a million each should've sent a clear message to Capcom.

Fair enough that those who didn't have a GC and own a Wii might want to try this, admittedly I didn't think of it like that, I just want some proper support from one of the best developers in the world, instead of more 'tests' for the most popular console with the biggest userbase.Smilie

It's just pure easy money for capcom though...

It must take absolutely minimal staff to bring REmake to the Wii when the hardware is basically identical to the system it was designed on.

WTF, how many times are they gonna remake this game?

They need to bring this out over here, simply because REmake is the best RE game. RE0 was a bit shit, so re-releasing that was sort of strange. REmake is a must, though!

If they do a Western release for Wii, I reckon Capcom Europe should bundle both of these RE0 and RE editions together for £24.99...

Looks alright. They need to bundle these games together and sell at a reduced price. I wouldn't mind 2/3 games on a Wii-sized DVD disc with a menu at the start to select the game you like.

How come these remakes are so much more common on Nintendo consoles? I guess Nintendo console owners are already used to buying the same games over and over.

If the graphics and controls are updated I would buy this game, if it just a GC port with no extras at all then its a NO NO from me!

How many times does this game need to be remade. Once was enough. It is a great classic but just have it the one time.
