Judge Dredd: Dredd Vs. Death
Straight from ECTS, our views on this interesting title...

Game Data

There are always certain little gems hidden away at ECTS, and having managed to tear ourselves away from Mario Kart: Double Dash!! for five minutes we took a look around the main show floor to see what we could find. Much to our surprise we stumbled across the lovely people at Rebellion Games who gave us a play around with their game Judge Dredd: Dredd Vs. Death.

First impressions are very good, it looks nice enough, and moving around the large level we were allowed on was easy enough, but it was clear that things weren’t quite right. Whilst nifty ideas like being able to alternate between fire, bullets, rockets and shells is all well and good like the general impression we got of this game it seemed a bit tagged on and disjointed. Still, after persevering with it for a few minutes it was clear that it was not all doom and gloom.

Coming up against some rather hefty looking bots we opened fire, only to discover we had been a bit foolish to run into a room full of enemies without a care in the world. Brushing ourselves down and squabbling over who got a go next we moved into the level a bit more. With a vast armoury we found a rather nice weapon for use on the room full of bots, a submachine gun. So, with all of them ploughed into submission with a mixture of fire and bullet. The feeling of power you get from the weapons is very impressive, you really do feel like you are holding something deadly, and it gave us a great sense of power!

With that level done and dusted we were allowed to have a sneaky peak at the next level, and much to our delight it contained two essential items for gaming bliss: the zombie, and the shotgun. Lots of blood and guts were scattered all over the shop as we worked our way through the field of the undead, taking in the rather lovely backdrops as we went. Whilst this wasn’t the title itself, and just a demonstration of what we will see when it hits the shops there was enough to impress, but it is clear that much more work is needed before this turns too many heads.
