Nintendo Adding Extras to Jungle Beat Port on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

The latest Famitsu has revealed that it won't just be the controls that Nintendo will alter in the Donkey Kong: Jungle Beat Port for Wii.

Due to be one of the first of the 'Play on Wii' brand Gamecube ports, Nintendo will be adding Mid-Level checkpoints, changing the placement of the gimmicks and enemies, and most interestingly of all, be adding completely new levels to the game, unseen in the Gamecube original.

When the game was first announced for a Wii release, many speculated that the Controls would be mapped to the Wii Remote similarly to Barrel Blast, but Nintendo seems to be aiming to convert Jungle Beat into a more traditional platformer by adding more conventional controls.
You'll control DK's movements with the analog stick, and jump with the A button. Motion control will be utilized for other moves, including clapping and punching.

As for the other game that will launch the 'play on Wii' brand, Pikmin, there hasn't been any mention of any extras, but the controls have been given more explanation. Using the pointer, you can press A to throw Pikmin, or B to call them back with the whistle.

Both games are due to go on sale next month in Japan, and are expected to be released overseas next year.

If I remember rightly there was some criticism of the game being too hard on the hands, so I'm assuming that's why they changed things round a bit (this time the general tiredness of your arms though I guess).

Also the "looking like a spastic" factor should be drastically reduced.

I've got the original and Bongo's but find that hitting them is just so loud the neighbors next door can hear it.

Mmm, different enemy placement and extra levels? Funny, I've currently re-started DK:JB from scratch and finished the 1st 2 levels on Platinum. In short 10-15 minutes burst it's a fun game and a great pre-work out exercise.

Well I expected them to be reworked as far as the control, but as far as level design changes, I did not expect that they would go that far. This is a very positive move and a great opportunity to further improve games whenever possible.

I still have all my Bongo's so I hope DKJB will still allow for that control method in the Wii game. I may well import Pikmin, I cannot wait as londg as it will. I already have a Japanese copy of the original so it would be great for my collection.

I wonder if LucasArts will take this chance to further improve Rogue Squadron. I can think of a few areas where that game and others could be improved for fans.

Good to know Nintendo aren\'t just porting them and re-assigning the control set ups.

I did find it a bit annoying playing DK JB with the bongos. I don\'t think I could grasp it as expertly as other people, although I did very well on the game.

But the Wii controls are much better suited. I would much prefer moving DK with the control stick and jumping with A. And the shaking of the nunchuk and remote would still work perfectly.

DK JB is probably suited to the Wii more so than the GC w/ bongos.

Not sure it\'d warrant a purchase from me seeing as I own the GC version though. It\'d have to be dramatically reduced in price in the long run (or get it preowned).

Tight! New Jungle Beat goodies? I LOVE the original GCN gem. It's ridiculously fun. Smilie

I must say I'm a little bummed my beloved DK Bongos aren't 'gonna get any Wii Jungle Beat lovin'.Smilie;-Smilie

Chance favors the prepared mind.

Can we use GC controls if we wanted to?

I wondered how they were going to emulate the 'clap', which was picked up by the bongo's microphone.
