    EA Announces EA Sports Active

Industry behemoth EA has finally thrown back the curtain on their answer to Wii Fit; EA Sports Active.

Set to be exclusive to Wii, and retail for $60, roughly half that of Wii Fit, EA Sports Active uses its own peripherals, straps that attach the Wii Remote or Nunchuk to your body.

Ea Sports Active follows the same premise as Wii Fit, although goes about it in a very different way. You are given an A.I trainer to take you through one of 20 long exercises for 20 minutes every day, using the aforementioned straps (two will be in the box) and a Resistance Band also included, to help stretch those muscles. Exercises in EA Sports Active include running, boxing and more.

There will be regular software updates over Wi-Fi for Active, and more peripherals planned for new exercises. The game claims to have true 1:1 motion, even without MotionPlus, and there will be a custom music player too.
EA Sports Active looks to be the start of a franchise, as there will be an EA Active Soccer version later on 'down the road', and more versions to come.

EA Sports Active will be endorsed by Bob Greene, american chat-show host Oprah's trainer, so there should be a big push for this game in the US. As well as free straps and a resistance band, there will also be a nutrition book included. Also, the Wii Balance Board is supported by Active, but not completely required.

What looks to be a worthy alternative to Wii Fit, EA Sports Active will be released next March. No word on which markets that will be for, but the US is a safe bet.

Looks alright, simple but effective exercises. Though probably wouldn't pay for it, the interactive nature would prob help with doing some exercises.

i don't see how it can be a rival if this helps nintendo in a way. if they make a wii fit 2 they can use some of the ideas that the EA's game uses. just like how GH used the drum idea from rock band.

I think it looks good. May even buy it if it does get the updates and what not by Wi-Fi and retail means.
