CommunityM-Rated Game Ads Banned in Chicago

Video game ads have been banned from public transport in Chicago after recent problems with the GTA campaign.
Take Two and the Chicago Transit Authority had issues back in May with adverts for GTA IV being pulled from buses and breaking contract. As part of a settlement, the material will be shown for 6 weeks.
Once the GTA situation is in the clear, it looks like there'll be no more M-rated game adverts accepted. With the transport system a great way of promoting your product, and it have it move around a large area, this could certainly cause a dent for those producing mature titles.
Last week, the CTA board voted to ban advertising for video games rated "M" and above. The ordinance, which takes effect Jan. 1, cites a "demonstrable correlation" between intensely violent video games and violent or aggressive behavior. - CTA statement
It seems like R-rated movies won't be affected, or will other mature products. Could an advert that only depicted cartoon images of characters in the game, and logo really do so much damage?

Wow, I didn't know this was proven and backed by the majority of the scientific community yet. I guess it's true then after all.

I'd be okay with this if R-rated movies or TV-MA programs were getting the same treatment, but otherwise this is just ridiculous.

You'd actually have to have some sortof mental problem to actually copy video game violence, even kids know the difference between fantasy and real life, and if they are susceptable to copying things like this, well it's the parents or guardian's fault.

Aren't games a form of art? So why don't we ban all of the paintings, music, TV, plays, dance, singing, books, and movies? Then it will be even.
