Monster Hunter Not a Wii Exclusive?

The stunning Monster Hunter 3 may make an appearance on platforms other than Wii in the future.

It looks like the exclusivity rights for the next-generation instalment of the popular Monster Hunter "is not yet final" according to a Capcom representative in a recent interview. The game itself has seen a console jump before, originally planned to head solely towards Sony's PlayStation 3 and has since sailed onto Nintendo's Wii instead.

An upgrade for PS3 or Xbox 360 could be likely, a stripped down version PlayStation 2 also a likely prospect, or maybe even a completely new version of the same game for PSP or DS.

    Thanks to PSP QJ.

It won't sell badly, but Nintendo need to throw money at Capcom NOW if they want to keep it exclusive - it's not like they don't have enough!

I could see it going to PS2, but probably not PS3/360; that would require extra effort to boost it all up, whereas a PS2 port would be easy as pie...

God knows Nintendo have the money to pay them off...that is if Nintendo wants to. I think they'd rather secure Brain Age or whatever instead.

The game looks awesome, I hope it stays exclusive for at least a year.

Oh and it\'s very bad marketing to already say that your exclusive game might not be exclusive for long. Especially when you deal with Nintendo fans. >_<

I hope it does stay exclusive, I mean, there aren't many good third party exclusives on the system as it is(compared to other consoles).

I\'m betting a near straight port to 360/PS3 with \"HD\" tacked on the end of its name.

Oh, and HELL NO to those calling for Nintendo to pay for this.
Nintendo\'s the dominating platform, they don\'t have to pay anyone diddle-squat.

    Paid-exclusives don\'t help gamers anyway.
All that counts is the games you can play, it dosnt mater if something is avaible to others, as long as its avalible to you.

Ah, yes. Here it comes. Smilie I wouldn\'t be the slightest bit surprised if Capcom is up to their usual \"let\'s f*** over the Nintendo fanbase\" plans. To the contrary, I\'d be surprised if they actually stood by their word, and kept a game they say is suppose to be an exclusive, exclusive.

Why stop now? They\'ve been doing this crap to Nintendo fans for years. Just about every other 3rd party is doing it now. Capcom is just one of the originals.

They wouldn\'t know the meaning of the word \"exclusive\" if it came up behind them and ripped a chunk out of their ass. :-x

I\'m pissed that they\'re even considering this. Enough is enough. These freak\'n 3rd parties still don\'t get it...

I agree. Whether this game is an exclusive isn't really a big deal if you're a Wii owner. As long as you can play it, it shouldn't matter that other people can too. Exclusives could help sell systems, but I don't think Nintendo is having any trouble selling Wiis. Smilie

I don't think Nintendo NEED to pay them off. I don't even think it NEEDS to stay exclusive. It will hit Wii first by any means, and that will be enough to make it a 2 million seller in Japan

I agree, it's not a matter of Ninty needing to pay off Capcom for an exclusive, there on top of the world right now. If anything, these companies should be lining up to put their best titles on Wii.

Personally, it's the principle of the matter that really pisses me off. If they say it's going to be an exclusive, or worse, promise it will be, then damnit, keep it exclusive. They have no principles or ethics and it's the gamers who get the shaft in the long run.

One thing that amazes me, is that it seems to always be the Nintendo gamer who ends up getting the short end of the stick. Most popular console or not.Smilie
