Rock Band 2 DLC Details, No sequel for 2009 on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

Harmonix recently made a few announcements at this year's CES, including that Rock Band 3 won't be arriving this year.

The main project for the studio this year will be the previously announced music title featuring songs from the Beetles. As for here and now, Harmonix also detailed the DLC features available for the Wii edition of Rock Band 2.

Since Nintendo has skimped out on a hard-drive, an SD card is the ideal route for storing those downloaded tunes. A single track averages out at around 24MB, and so the maximum sized card for Wii (2GB) can take on approximately 75. There are workarounds to access 4GB varieties, but on average Wii owners are looking at grabbing around 70-80 tunes per card.

The downloadable content is in the final testing stages and Harmonix is working as fast as possible to deliver the 20 free bonus songs for Rock Band 2, plus an additional 30 songs from the Rock Band DLC Catalog to fans as early in 2009 as possible.

With any luck, Nintendo will sort out the harddrive problem in the next few months like they said at their conference last year, and maybe allow support for bigger SD Cards.

Bit of a shame since the Rock Band 2 track list absolutely sucked compared to the first game.

It sucked? Okay, I get the first game... *lol*

For me with Guiter Hero WT it's absolutely acceptable to store my songs on SD-card. Great, that Harmonix will give us the same possibility. It's the best choice for the moment.
Great, that they deliver us the same DLC. I hope GHWT will give uus Wii-users DLC from past titles. I may want to play a lot of titles from GH 1 and 2 on Wii. And when you are up to it, make a Queen-GH, too. I played Killer Queen till my fingers bled (sorry, couldn't resist to deliver this line).

Since I heard RB 1 and 2 are compatible with my GH-instruments, it's cool to buy them.

And it's okay not to throw out a Rock Band every year. Rather make a great next game with more time. Annual games from a series is what almost killed EA. Take your time...

I find your lack of faith disturbing!

RB2 is compatible with GH guitars, but i'm pretty sure RB 1 and the rest of the instruments aren't.

Wow they are finally treating the wii has a Next gen console but o well Nintendo did do something huge with the Wii h311 look at how much was sold.

When all is bad don't look for a easy way out. Because you wont know what to do once your out

It\'s about time they got some downloadable content running.

And I\'m sorry, but it\'s killing me. It\'s \"The Beatles.\" Smilie

Couldn't agree more! Smilie

I'm almost certain RB1 is compatible as well. On 360 at least.

I'm Wii only, sorry. I own the big instrument's pack of WT and the Guitar from GH III. I will not buy another.
And GH1 isn't compatible... Great, just great!
GH 2 has a crappy playlist? even more great! *grumble*

Can someone clarify on Wi? That would be most kind. Smilie
