Motion Sensing DS Card on the Way?

Nintendo seem to love motion control, and with a new trademark out motion-sensing DS cards could be on the way.

Siliconera picked up a trademark from Nintendo for a "DS Houi Sensor Card". Houi is Japanese for direction, so it's likely to be related to a motion-detecting card or peripheral of some kind. Nintendo has dabbled in portable motion sensing before in Slide Mag Kid for DS, so it's nothing new for them. Could DS cards be on the way without additional hardware?

Am looking forward to the ultimate WarioWare game.

    Touch AND motion. AMAGAD epic.

But yeah the GBA did it a fair few times so I don't see why the DS won't have the motion stuffs at some point.

One day I will be a real life anime.

The GBA did it yep, and the DS has already had motion control - what I'm trying to say is that it's looking like a regular DS card with sensors inside - so no need for clunky hardware.

bascally every game card will have the motion sensing in them, be it a new zelda or mario game. sounds like a nice evolution to the DS game cards, it would help extend the DS\'s life cycle. The GameBoy brand lasted 10 or 11 years, why should the DS be any different?

Aslong as they're not DSi only, which I doubt, I think that'd be pretty cool.

The type of accelerometer in the GBA carts is way too big for a DS flash card. It will be interesting to see what they have come up with but I think it will probably poke out at the top somewhat.

Why don't they just include this hardware in the DSi?

It would actually be pretty cool if there was a little accelerometer that switched viewing from regular to bookmode on the DSi menu.Smilie

I think that there should be a new warioware game. A motion sensing game for the DS would be awsome.

New Warioware is coming using the camera anyway.

The type of accelerometer in the GBA carts is way too big for a DS flash card.

Not true actualy, the pizo-electric sensor is tiny.

Most of the space used in WarioWare twisted, for example, was on the rumble. That was the big bit sticking out.

The small black square bit..about 2mmx3mm was the sensor. This could just about fit on a DS card at the end.

Of course though, that game did only use 1-axis sensor, rather then 3 at 90degree\'s which would of course take more room.

Actually surprised they have not done a motion sensor card yet really... In mass production, projects that is.

Motion control is fun and all, don't get me wrong, but I do also enjoy my old classic not-having-to-shake-violently types of games. I hope motion control won't take over everything, but at the rate it's going, it will.
