Some of Nintendo's recent trademark registrations have been leaked, and while there are the usual enigmatic trademarks, as well as the previously rumoured DS motion sensor card, the huge presence of various obscure possibly Pokémon titles is hard to ignore.

Soon they will have to invent new colours!

    oh, I wouldn\'t rule out black/white.
Pokemon is about the only Nintendo franchise they havnt had a dark/light world theme yet.

Anyway, no matter what the colour, It would be nice if there were going to be some new Pokémon games, though I don\'t see any trademarks for a remake of G/S/C. >.<

I think the trademarks are treated like seperate entities.
Just because they have pokemon trademarked doesn't mean they have every other word that follows Pokemon trademarked (They couldn't anyway because you can't trademark everyday words). It's like Nintendo trademarking Nintendo DS or Nintendo Wii.

I can see this Black-White/Light-Shadow/Darkness thing totally working. It inspired me to think up a short concept-idea, actually.

They could make it seperate dimensions of the same Pokémon-world; One eternally basked in light because of *insert new legendary pokémon here*, and one eternally basked in darkness because of *insert new legendary pokémon here*.
Then, your main goal instead of just beating the Elite Four would be to gain control of that legendary Pokémon in your version, thus giving you control over light/darkness which can also change how you have to approach catching a Pokémon.
Using the DS/Wii/Whatever-calendar, you're able to swap light/dark once a week. Certain Pokémon only appear one day every week under either light/dark, or both,, so you have to actually take your time. AND!
You actually become a champion. You get paged everytime a new challenger arrises. if you don't show up, your title is automatically forfeit (making it so you have to re-earn your title as the Champion. Keeps it interesting to actually train for the Pokémon League, IMO). The challenger can be either a predetermined in-game opponent, or trainerdata obtained from exchanging records with friends. Ofcourse there will have to be a limit to the level they can reach and all.

Yes, I'm thinking in EPIC proportions here. Pokémon NEEDS a bit of EPIC, seeing we've already uncovered the friggin' GOD of Pokémon.Smilie

I never thought about it that way before. One game could have a set of dark Pokemon while the other has light Pokemon. The dark could be MadWorld style graphics (not as bright, but you know what I mean), and the light could be, well... light. Hold on, let me write this down...

Love the league idea most of all. Especially having characters from the game. Female Gym Leader #2 would be the most unexpected Champion ever!

And Gary Motherfucking Oak would have to do it too. You\'d be all like \"Ahh I\'m gonna go reclaim my title from a Bug Catcher\" and then Gary\'s all like \"Too slow loser!!\" and then you\'re all like \"D:!!!!!!!\"

As if Nintendo would ever stray that far from the \'used to death\' formula of every other main pkmn game. Smilie

The next games will be about a young boy or girl collecting pkmns and 8 badges while fighting off a Team Rocket clone who wants to use the boxart monster to take over the world. You defeat them, defeat the elite four and then maybe get access to some extra islands like a battle frontier or something. END OF. Smilie

Pokemon Crystal was the best. 16 badges, the suicune storyline as well as the Team Rocket part.

Suicune\'s ties to the Unown were left so open ended that they make Rydia cry more than she already was.

Dammit Game Freak, can\'t you be decisive about ANYTHING interesting in Pokémon? That\'s all it needs to be the best franchise of all time hands down afterall Smilie

Yup, there's too much loose ends in the Pokémon universe. It's time for something radical like my game to tie stuff up, actually use the fact that there are several dimensions (because there ARE)

YAWM FFS how many more (Nintendo) games need a frigging light vs dark story.

The old saying "Why fix it if it ain't broke?" applies in your case.
Kiddies (who are the target market) don't give a flying mudkip about "loose ends" the whole pokemon idea is a loose end. If they aren't bored of the whole "gotta catch em all" idea after ten years I don't think they ever will.

    Poke MMO FTW.

Pokémon MMO is a paradoxical idea in many ways.

    - MMOs are not for kids
    - Pokémon's primary audience is kids
    - Nintendo + MMOs = Maybe in an alternate universe

The official slogan was actually dropped since parents complained about it being too hard to "catch 'em all".

And just because it's not broke doesn't mean it shouldn't be improved. Anyone who's played Colosseum or Ranger games know that it's perfectly possible for Pokémon games to have real continuity and plot.

I know light and dark is sort of often-used,, but that's why I changed the perspective a bit.
When you reach and catch that 'mon you are GODlike; You CONTROL the Pokémon and the entire state of the dimension.
You don't travel to an alternate dimension, or a different version of the same place through a portal but you actually transform the entire continent at your own will. It's not something you're forced through to complete the game, it's something to put more strategy+put some more hours into catching them all.
If you don't like it, I really don't care. The way I've got it in my head is different from other Nintendo-games with similar premises.

Besides, isn't it always about dark/light? Good VS. Evil? It's just a contrast, which is often used in games, music, film and the likes.

    MMOs are not for kids

    It doesn\'t stop them playing.

Nintendo + MMOs = Maybe in an alternate universe

It hasn\'t happened yet don\'t worry it will happen in some form or another someday (Not pokemon maybe a new ip).

Anyone who\'s played Colosseum or Ranger games know that it\'s perfectly possible for Pokémon games to have real continuity and plot.

Colosseum has a plot? First I heard. lol
My Nana could have shitted a better plot and she\'s dead.

I know light and dark is sort of often-used

Often used? That\'s not the way I would have worded it, more like over used again and again and again mostly by Nintendo.

You don\'t travel to an alternate dimension, or a different version of the same place through a portal but you actually transform the entire continent at your own will.

So your saying that instead of the portal transporting you, you are a portal and that the world tranforms (transports) around you. Same thing you just switched it up.... a little...

Besides, isn\'t it always about dark/light? Good VS. Evil? It\'s just a contrast, which is often used in games, music, film and the likes.

Ya but the thing is your making the contrast obvious, way too obvious. Other media mix it up you don\'t know who or what is on your side or what side your on.

If you've played XD, then yes Colosseum's plot gets deeper in turn. My point being that unlike most Pokémon games, the sequels to Colosseum and Ranger actually build upon the conclusions to the previous games and reference them constantly. That's continuity.

The only mainseries game to do that was Gold & Silver, they did it pretty excellently, so I wouldn't ever doubt that Pokémon could have a great story.

A story, not a great one. G&S just let you collect 8 more badges there wasn\'t really a story there. Didn\'t play XD but can\'t imagine it being very indepth.

As for Faust and Birdo, cillax. Seriously. It's a game, (a brilliant one at that) but still a game. If someone has a sweet idea about the game, then let the man speak his peace. But, it won't really matter, because why would Nintendo really listen to us? Smilie
