Photo Printing Wii Bound for the West? on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

Nintendo of Europe has applied for a trademark that pretty much confirms a intention to bring the Photo Printing channel over.

The European trademark database lists Nintendo's venture as "Photo Print Service Channel", and it really couldn't be anything 'cept what it says on the tin. It'll likely be a similar feature to what Japanese players have been using to whip up business cards, calendars and Nintendo themed photosets coupled with Miis for inspiration. These would be sent to a provider to be whipped up and sent to your door.

I guess you could plug it into the USB in the back, but I never really thought you'd be able to.

Sounds like a great idea. I am curious, however, on how it will exactly print. Will Nintendo release a "Wii Printer" or will it allow the Wii to connect to existing printers.

I don't know; you'd think they'd allow a printer to be plugged into the Wii. The only company I've seen where you have to order high quality stuff is Apple. Smilie

Nintendo themselves don't print them they have an agreement with fujifilm.

Plus why would your printer be anywere near the wii, wouldn't be a huge hassle?
Would you buy a printer just for the wii just for this?

And at the end of the day you could always just you know print the stuff from a computer. Smilie

Lol, Business cards are definitely still commonly used - especially when giving your website/email details to people! These can easily be mistyped, so good to have on something to give to people.
