Free Radical Lose Identity, Becomes Crytek UK on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

As part of the buyout conditions, UK developer Free Radical will see a name change: Crytek UK.

The TimeSplitters and Haze creator was handed a lifeline earlier this week, and it seems with the move comes the requirement for rebranding.

Free Radical Design is a great fit to Crytek and its culture, given that Free Radical has a proven track record on delivering high quality games.

The combination of this team, the Crytek network and our CryENGINE technology will be a foundation for outstanding gaming experiences and a magnet for the best talent in the UK.

I guess with Free Radical team in hand Crytek can now venture to the console market as well.

They said sometime last year that they are, before this move. There is not enough money to be made in PC games solely.

WOW doesn't think so Smilie if you were to take WOW numbers, there are 20m+ PC gamers. The market is there, they just need to approach it the right way. Crysis wasn't exactly an awesome game... besides graphics and effects, it was very simple. Think about how many People play CS. Those are all people that will buy decent games as long as they're well made.

Valve isn't too fancy on consoles... they've released like 2 console games I think.
So basically it's the same argument of "HARDCORE GAMIEZ DO NOT SELL ON TEH WII" same S#@* different smell.
