Key execs from the recently axed Helixe have gotten together to form a new development studio known as DoubleTap Games.

Previously the THQ-owned Helixe produced a series of film-to-game conversions for the Nintendo DS including Wall-E and Rataouille, but without being handed these licenses for development, the team can now bring over new ideas and franchises to the portable this year.

No specific details on Double Tap's plans have been announced, but the founders have "great publisher relationships" along with a handful of DS titles already being penned for development.

    Thanks to Joystiq.
