More Suikoden Tierkreis DS Details Released on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

Konami has released new details on Suikoden: Tierkreis for the Nintendo DS, which launches next month. The latest iteration of the celebrated Suikoden series is straying from its PlayStation roots and heading to DS in the US and Europe in March.

With Suikoden: Tierkreis Konami hopes to expand the bounds of handheld RPGs as players journey with a variety of characters while exploring exotic locations and cultures across the game's universe of parallel worlds. Featuring the franchise's established gameplay while maximising the technological capabilities of the DS to provide all-new online elements, this epic RPG consists of many cinematic experiences that will drive the grand storyline of the 108 Stars of Destiny as they battle to thwart the powerful forces of evil.

Suikoden: Tierkreis features a robust online mode allowing players to send their character to another player's parallel world through the door to the Infinity via Wi-Fi. The character will be hired to complete a quest by another player and when the quest is complete or time is up, the original player will receive the outcome with their character. This is a fun and interesting way for gamers to level-up characters, with both players receiving rewards for completing the quests.

Online features include:

  • Exchange characters via Wi-Fi
  • Receive trade goods by clearing quests
  • Receive rare items as rewards by clearing quests
  • The exchanged character can get experience
  • Receive rare item only available in the Wi-Fi mode
  • Unique boss battles only available in the Wi-Fi mode.
From Cubed3's short time with the Japanese edition, the game's visuals are by far some of the best on DS, the soundtrack is mesmerising and the battle mechanic is classic Suikoden fun, with players able to either make each team member fight alone or let them join forces with team-mates for special attack patterns, as well as launching devastating magical spells at foes. There is also the option to let your team fight each round on auto-pilot to help quickly by-pass frustrations caused by the random encounter rate. All-in-all, the game cannot come to the West quick enough and should not be passed up!

Keep a close eye out for this when it hits the US on 17th March and Europe later that month.

This one looks fantastic. Looks like its going to have all the production values of the very best RPG's on the system.

Never played a Suikoden game, but I'll have to keep my eyes on this one.

The article says it should come in March. I've seen release dates that confirm that too. Can't wait!
