Hudson Won't Give up on VC Support

Hudson Won

Hudson has confirmed that they won't be giving up on Virtual Console support, contrary to recent reports.

Last week it seemed that support for classic Hudson titles would be dropped in North America, in favour of WiiWare and newer titles, but fortunately Mike Pepe, Director of Marketing has confirmed that both new and old games from the developer will continue to populate the Wii's catalogue of downloadable treats.

Although WiiWare has been very successful for Hudson we have every intention to continue supporting Virtual Console. We are very pleased with the service and are happy to make available products that have been fan favorites in the past. Creating new games on WiiWare and releasing past ones on VC are two separate initiatives that we intend to support.

Pepe has also requested titles for the company to consider releasing on the service, to pass over to the folks in Japan.

Thanks to Siliconera and C3 reader wAyNe sTaRT for the tip.

I hope this also means they will backing third party games (as well as first party titles) for the Turbografx-16 system. I'm still waiting for Rondo of Blood to be released on the VC in the US, as well as the Ys IV.

The original rumour was about the Japanese arm dropping VC support, so hopefully this isn't a case of the US side just not getting the memo.

As for what I want to see, it's Faxanadu by far! Smilie

Good to know.

Well I hope there focus is on Wiiware, i'd rather see updated classics rather than ROMs just dumped onto the VC service.
