NPC Metroid Prime Wii, Controls, Video on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

A hands-on guide to New Play Control: Metroid Prime shows solid controls and some visual improvement, new video inside.

The Wii remake fixes up control by introducing a similar scheme to the Wii-exclusive Metroid Prime, as well as the inclusion of Widescreen support and a basic achievements system.

  • Near identical controls to those in Metroid Prime 3 - Fire with A, jump with B, shoot missiles with the d-pad, C button shifts into morph ball mode and Z strafes and enables lock on.
  • Beams are selected using the + or - buttons and dragging from the centre to the corners of your visor.
  • No support for GameCube controllers.
  • Full widescreen 16:9 support, some stretched and cropped graphics - slightly different scan visor highlights.
  • Hard mode is now available from the start for fans of the original to jump straight into the increased difficulty.
  • Simple achievement system (a stripped down version of the one in Corruption) is included, with the inclusion of the Fusion suit (originally unlocked by linking up Metroid Fusion).
  • Thanks to Nintendo World Report and C3 reader Samus_Boy for the tip.

Well I don't see much point in preview trailers for games where you can see pretty much anything about on youtube...but it looks good - hope it sells well Smilie

Avoid Games Like the Plague, productivity++

Hope it does well, MP3 had a very solid control scheme and this is looking as tight. Worryingly visually better then a lot of Wii games - from Nintendo included Smilie

How sad is it that 3 of the best looking Wii games are ports of last-gen games (Twilight Princess, MP, RE4)?

Tis, there is Galaxy, Brawl, Conduit, MadWorld etc but I get what you mean with a lot of GC games looking far better than Wii efforts

Metroid Corruption looked slightly, but still noticably suppiour, imo.
Wasnt just a mater of progress scan or widescreen, textures and partical effects were a little better too.

Wow, i missed these games but i am looking forward to them.

When all is bad don't look for a easy way out. Because you wont know what to do once your out

I'm definately gettin this seeing as I didn't complete the first one. I love the games but this one failed to hold my attention entirely. Want to give it another go!

I played through both MP1 and 2 twice. The second time to get 100% so I definately don't mind going through them again with Wii controls. Smilie

That reminds me, I still need to complete MP3. Smilie

Ooo, definitely have to pick this up, got rid of the original to help afford the Wii and I do miss it so. Smilie

The new controls will hopefully make it a new experience all over again, heck, maybe I can get 100% this time. I do miss a good few hours exploring Tallon IV.

I don't remember there being such an awesome monologue when you started the game...

That explains it. I feel like Retro and Nintendo made me miss out just by taking out that monologue.

So that Nintendo can rehash more old games for ridiculous prices? Fuck Nintendo.

Yep, such a thing is unheard of from any company.

I saw it the other day at the shops, $40 AUD is pretty damn cheap. I would get them if I didn't have it already.
